Just tested this deck. Decked the other deck out turn 17, I had 90 life thanks to judge of currents, even though the other deck (with an aggro attack, which this deck is perfectly capable of), swung for 10-14 5 times. Bwahaha.
3 Judge of Currents with Drowner of Secrets and a bunch of other merfolk. You could also consider that I had a bad hand and got NO Summon the School and NO Benthicore and NO Wanderwine Prophets and NO Merrow Commerce the entire game. If I had got 1 Merrow Commerce (BTW, I tweaked the deck to include 3 + 2 harbingers), then I woulda decked other deck out twice as fast and it wouldn’t have been swinging. I could have easily finished with over 100 life.
I love this deck. BTW, Harpoon Sniper came in pretty handy a couple times. |

Scrapped everything and went with a survive until deckout mode.
Which works pretty well. The ability for me to keep throwing permanents back to an opponent’s hand as well as some basic spell countering stuff means that they have trouble hitting me consistently, as well as losing half their deck to milling and my HUGE life-gain. |

Still needs more land, at least 22. Also, I wouldn’t use Jace. Ok, he "fits" with the milling theme, but he’s AWFUL at doing that, since he at the same time gives outs to your opponent, outs that your 6 counterspells alone WON’T be able to hold. I’d lose him, and pack more counterspells, and use Fallowsgae as a drawing engine, and perhaps some Springleaf Drums as more ways to tap your merfolk. And I’d pack Sygg, River Guide. |
