The twilight cost of this card is -1 for each minion and hunter minion you can spot.
Spot a Gondor Man and 2 other companions of different cultures to make the move limit +1 for this turn and play the fellowship’s next site (replacing opponent’s site if necessary).
“‘With hope or without hope we will follow the trail of our enemies. And woe to them, if we prove the swifter!’”

Seems fine now.

The twilight cost of this card is -1 for each Aragorn signet you can spot.
Spot Aragorn (or 3 Gondor rangers) to play the fellowship’s next site (replacing opponent’s site if necessary) and make the move limit +1 for this turn. Each opponent may draw 2 cards.
“‘...we must hold together. I will follow your counsel.’”

I see your point about both cards in the set and its valid. But this is fine as well.

This could be a good horizontal cycle to put into Gondor, Rohan and Elven cultures especially, especially as 2 such cards in the same culture might be too much.

In fact, I don’t think you do enough cycles, vertical or horizontal, and I’d like to see you do more! Mr. Green

It’s good too.

They’re a bit similar... maybe yous should do something else with one of them.

I like the second one best the way it is, though. Thumbs Up

I’ll look into tweaking one of the cards somehow, or perhaps changing it to another set or culture or something. Thanks for the reviews!

Gondor is finally winding down, but before we finish, I have a couple companions to reveal.

Long-time reviewers may remember that I was tinkering with a set based around the game The Third Age at one point. I still intend to finish that set one day (probably after this set and the next), and it should be fun since it will feature lesser-known characters (some from Tolkien and some purely fictional) and some unusual stuff (like villager companions, non-Gandalf spells, and a new signet!). I will also make it a Reflections-type set with some more familiar characters and events, but depicted in an unusual way.

Anyway, since a big portion of that future set WILL be the game The Third Age, the characters from that game will be a big part of it. But I intend to sprinkle them throughout my other sets as well, since they are all based on background characters from the Lord of the Rings films. Again, long-time reviewers may remember that in the last set, The Road Ahead, I tossed in two of those characters: Idrial, an Elven servant of Galadriel that was seen in the background in Lothlórien, and Hadhod, a Dwarf that arrived with his kin at Rivendell (though was strangely not at the Council of Elrond).

In THIS set, we have two Gondorians, including the main character from The Third Age: Berethor, a long-time defender of Gondor and follower of Boromir, who (in the game) is sent by Denethor to track down an overdue Boromir near Rivendell. He is seen in the film as one of the knights celebrating a victory in Osgiliath with Boromir and Faramir. The other character, Elegost, is a ranger hunting Wargs and Orcs in the game, and joins Berethor’s party early on. In the film, he is supposedly one of the rangers in Faramir’s company...though strangely, the game has him pegged as a ranger of the North rather than one of Ithilien. *shrug* Oh well.

Both are included in this set, and here they are. Smile Enjoy!

4Berethor, Captain of the Citadel Guard Gondor
Companion • Man
Strength: 6
Vitality: 4
Signet: Aragorn
Knight. Damage +1.
While in region 1, Berethor is resistance -2.
While in region 2, Berethor is resistance -1 and strength +1.
While in region 3, Berethor is resistance +1 and strength +2.
One of Boromir’s closest lieutenants, Berethor was known throughout Minas Tirith and Osgiliath as an able leader and fierce warrior.

Other versions (in the set The Third Age) won’t be damage +1 by default, but in this case, I thought it was a nice touch, especially since he’s otherwise rather weak for his cost until later on the sitepath. And anyone that’s played the game probably knows why he starts off with low resistance and it builds up over time. Wink

2Elegost, Dúnedain Ranger Gondor
Companion • Man
Strength: 5
Vitality: 3
Signet: Aragorn
Ranger. Archer. Hunter 1.
Maneuver: Exert Elegost and add 1 to take a Gondor archery or Gondor skirmish event into hand from your draw deck.
Skirmish: If Elegost bears a hand weapon, exert him to exert an Orc or Uruk-hai he is skirmishing.
Though known through Eriador as a skilled hunter, it was in hunting the Orcs of Moria and Mordor that Elegost proved especially proficient.

I know you all are probably going to yell at me for Elegost being an archer, but if you’ve played the game, you’d understand why I will say that that decision is final. He simply HAS to be based on his character in the game.

If you’re interested in rarities, both of these would be Rares in the set...perhaps even R+.
Best regards, Dáin, Vice Aftokrator of the Chosen Ones

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!

Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North!

As opposed to all the other characters from Lord of the Rings! Razz

Whose name incidentally and mysteriously means ’Dwarf’ in Sindarn! Razz

Very interesting. Don’t think I can complain, overall.

With all those keywords, I think he should cost 3, with maybe a cost reduction built in as well in your starting fellowship or for spotting some Gondor Men.

I would drop his cost to 3. Thumbs Up His stats seem akin to those of Grimbeorn.

I played lotr the third age on ps2 and elegtost WAS an archer this is fine. I think the firat ability needs altering. Maybe just archery and remove the add 1.
