Now that we’re done with trolls and other such unpleasantness, we come to the fair valley of Rivendell. Here we’ll get probably the only taste of Elves in the The Hobbit portion of this set, since the other Elves ought to be in the culture.
Anyways, Enjoy!
Elf-Song (reprint)
Event * Fellowship
Tale.
Spot an Elf to remove a burden.
’O! Will you be staying, / Or will you be flying? / Your ponies are straying! / The daylight is dying! / To fly would be folly, / To stay would be jolly / And listen and hark / to our tune / ha! ha!’
Light-Heartedness
Event * Maneuver or Regroup
Exert an Elf to discard a Shadow card borne by a companion.
Not that they would care; they would only laugh all the more if you told them so.
Elven Song-guide
Companion * Elf
Strength: 6
Vitality: 3
Resistance: 7
At the start of each of your fellowship phases, you may add to take an tale from your discard pile into hand.
"We will set you right, but you had best get on foot, until you are over the bridge. Are you going to stay a bit and sing with us, or will you go straight on?"
Quicker Than Water Flows
Event * Fellowship or Regroup
Spot an Elf to reveal a Shadow player’s hand.
If this event was played during the fellowship phase, you may exert an Elf to remove .
If this event was played during the regroup phase, you may exert an Elf to discard a revealed minion.
Elves know a lot and are wondrous folk for news, and know what is going on among the peoples of the land, as quick as water flows, or quicker.
Elf-Lantern
Possession * Lantern
Resistance: +1
To play, spot an Elf. Bearer must be a companion.
Fellowship: Discard this possession to heal bearer and reveal a Shadow player’s hand.
The elves had brought bright lanterns to the shore, and they sang a merry song as the party went across.
*The Last Homely House
Condition * Support Area
Epic.
To play, spot 3 companions (or Elrond).
Each time you play an tale, add an token here.
Fellowship: Remove 3 tokens from here to heal a companion.
And so at last they all came to the Last Homely House, and found its doors flung wide.
*Elrond, Master of the Last Homely House
Companion * Elf
Strength: 8
Vitality: 4
Resistance: 7
To play, spot an Elf or Gandalf.
At the start of each of your fellowship phases, you may reveal a opponent’s hand. You may add to make that opponent discard a revealed Shadow card.
Skirmish: Exert Elrond to place an tale from your discard pile beneath your draw deck.
He was as noble and as fair in face as an elf-lord, as strong as a warrior, as wise as a wizard, as venerable as a king of dwarves, and as kind as summer.
His second ability may not seem that useful - but imagine it used with The Council of Elrond and some recursion card (Elven Song-guide, perhaps?) |

Yes...excellent one to reprint.

Capitalize "Shadow", always! Fine otherwise, though. Well...MAYBE make it cost .

Not so sure about that, since it allows such easy access to the reborn Elf-Song. Buuuut...well, probably okay since it takes to do so, and he lacks any other text.

Doubtful that regroup ability would happen very often, but when it did...OUCH. I have no problem with it, though.

Perhaps "spot 3 companions (or Elrond)". Epic means it can’t be discarded, right? If so, I’d make it 3 tokens.

"Shadow". Capitalized. PLEASE! Though in this case, probably better to use "opponent" and then later say "...to make that opponent discard...". |

*Maybe* make it unique. Some is good, but don’t want too much hand extension. Should at least have more cultural enforcement. Probably "To play, spot 2 elves", or stack only tales would do it.

Elves are not normally good at recursion (except events), so I’m not sure what to make of this one. Perhaps fetching would be better for ?

Too cheap (compare to the card I can’t remember the title of). Make it cost , even if means changing the fellowship ability to removing .

Again far too cheap, especially as it can go straight on Galadriel, Frodo or any other ring-bearer you fancy. Make it unbound companion and bring the cost up to and it’s fine.

Not impressed by the subtitle, but never mind. I really don’t think he should be able to spot Gandalf - in Middle-Earth, he is several thousand years older and totally independent. Other than that, he’s fine.

Too easy. ’Response: If you play an tale, discard this condition to reveal a Shadow player’s hand.’ That is MUCH MUCH more balanced. Same note on recursion, but I suppose if it’s limited to tales it would be alright.

Fine, but I’d prefer something like healing a companion, exerting a minion or reinforcing some tokens or something like that.

I don’t like this theme at all. You get something powerful, then a whole load of other things that are also powerful. I’d be willing to put up with 1 card like this, but any more than that seems far too much.

I’d make it so that it triggers only if the Elf wins the skirmish or by exerting him. I think you’ve seriously underestimated the power of revealing and messing with someone’s hand. And you should do a lot more with the twilight costs of revealed cards, which makes it feel very nicely grounded in the culture.
