Ungoliant. "The evil creature of spider-form who was Melkor's accomplice in the Darkening of Valinor, and who fled with him to Middle-earth. The creatures that infested the Ered Gorgoroth were her offspring and descendants, as was Shelob who dwelt on the borders of Mordor. "
Ogre (not unique) "'...sat in the dark thinking of all the horrible names of all the giants and ogres he had ever heard told of in tales...'" There is no substantial evidence of Ogres in LOTR, but i'd be cool if there was. Make it like any ol' troll. But, a better ability.
Giant (not unique) "'...giants were spoken of, a Big Folk only far bigger and stronger than Men the [?ordinary] Big Folk...'" "'...hurling avalanches of boulders down the shafts, tossing up huge slabs of stone into the air like leaves.'" Make the big and super strong with lots of vitality but a stinging downside that can hurt badly.
