Well, the way i see it, niether side has much of an advantage, considering time period, scenario, and a few other factors. it'd be a close tie.
but hey, that's just me Wink

The Istari, balrogs (yes, plural), and Sauron are all maia.

There were many others, of course, but they took lesser forms...

I dont know if you'd say lesser, they were all of relative strength and had shapeshifting ability (although Sauron lost that ability sometime in his past I cannot remmeber...).
