Guys, refrain from your preferences, and maybe stick to the classic decks of each culture, not neccessarily your favorite. Oh, and the best decks.
Okay, here goes!

Thanks a lot to all who have posted! This is exactly the type of stuff I need. Now I just need to sort through endless boxes of cards to see how may of each good rare I have. |

Seriously though, Standard Format is the format used by Decipher in its premier events, so don’t be hatin’ on it that bad. Sure, there are some combos that border on (or just plain ARE) NPEs. Solution: use the PPE Format (www.lotrppeformat.com) when playing with your friends - just be sure to break out the good stuff when it comes to tournaments.
Bottom line for me is, I don’t like it when people refuse to support Standard because they believe they should ALWAYS be able to use all their cards in all sanctioned events. These arguments have been made time and time again, but Decipher basically found itself forced to rotate cards out of the meta in order for it to thrive and continue. If that means that in order for you to be World Champion, you have to leave your Legolas, Greenleaf and Eomer, Third Marshal of Riddermark at home, then get over it and force yourself to think about how to make a deck for once instead of adding onto what WERE great decks in their days. Find a new way to counter the NPE decks of today’s environment, using Standard legal cards, instead of going straight to "ol’ reliable".

Actually, that was quite a good rant. Standard is one of the most viable and least broken formats out there. Decipher is auto-balancing by rotating out sets...that way, you have fewer broken combos. Just take a look at the Standard X-list versus the Expanded X-list, and see how many cards were banned because of Expanded comboes (Like...Infinite Gandalf, anyone?)
Although I’m tempted to rant against PPE, and the labeling of "NPE", but I won’t. That’s a topic for another thread. |

It’s better than Infi Gandalf and Fruit Loops. Or Galadriel with Elvents. Or the Palantir. Or Demoralized + Rapid Reload (still legal in Expanded). |
