Ok, i’d like to know about Frodo, Courteous Halfling. the text says "shadow cards" can’t discard cards from hand or deck. so i would think the any shadow card that would force cards to be discarded from my hand or the top of my draw deck would be prevented when i can spot 3 unbound companions.
but, it is also belived by some, that if a shadow card makes the freeps player discard the cards, then that card works. such as Desperate Defense of the Ring. but it seems to me that if you have frodo,CH with his text active, you would have to add the burdens.
i’d especially like bib’s imput for this.

I believe that the text of Frodo, Courteous Halfling would disable Desperate Defense of the Ring, as well as any and all discarding from the top of your draw deck or hand by any and all Shadow cards.
If you’re trying to build a deck with him, I happen to have him, if you want to work out a deal... |
I had to put something here. |

Here’s something I found in the rulebook:
Frodo, Courteous Halfling 4 R 301
This card only prevents Shadow cards that make you discard from hand or draw deck. If a Shadow card gives you a choice, you may choose to discard.
If a Dunlending Rampager is played, Courteous Halfling does not prevent the Free Peoples player from discarding. Since the game text of the Rampager says “may discard,” a choice is provided.
So in the case of DDotR, I would rule that the Freeps player would choose whether to discard 3 cards or add a burden, but something like Orc Inquisitor would be canceled. |

I don’t think so. Look at my earlier post for a specific ruling for Frodo, CH; if the Shadow card gives you the choice of discarding, you can disregard Frodo’s text and choose to discard.
