This is my cunningly hidden master list of links to all the cultures and all the sets of my Hobbit block, so welcome! Razz

All cards are found in the first posts at each of these links (found by clicking on the culture symbols). If they’re not there, it means the culture isn’t finished yet! And that also means that you should get to reviewing them!

Links can also be found on the first post at each of these links for easy navigation. New keywords and mechanics are also found there. Any thoughts or comments, don’t hesitate to post at the link or PM me.

Happy DCing! Cool

H1) The Hobbit
Ring - The block’s ring plus the Ruling Ring.
Dwarven - The 13 Dwarves with instruments and many threats.
Elven - A mixture of Rivendell followers and Mirkwood companions.
Gandalf - Some Eagles and Beorn as well as our Ingenious Wizard.
Gollum - Shadow only, some lovely riddles.
Orc - The largest culture of the set including Giants, Trolls, Orcs and Wargs.
Sauron - Spiders mostly, but with a Smaug thrown in.
Shire - Bilbo has a whole load of riddles and ways to help out your Dwarves.
White - Sites generally focused on the party’s early travels.

H2) The Battle of the Five Armies
Dwarven - Old favourites but now including some Dwarves of the Iron Hills.
Elven - Mirkwood mostly and stuff that ties with the Lake-men.
Gandalf - Introduction to Lake-men, more Gandalf, Eagles and Beorn.
Gollum - Very few cards, finishing off Gollum but also includes Shelob!
Orc - Mounts for your Orcs and Bolg’s forces from the famous battle.
Sauron - More Spiders, but this time also a serious Smaug contingent.
Shire - Some off-the-wall riddles and some other fun stuff.
White - More sites generally centred around the Lonely Mountain.

H3) The White Council
Dwarven - Artifacts galore with the Kingdom Under the Mountain and Durin’s line
Elven - The Lords of the Elves from the White Council.
Gandalf - Gandalf, Dalemen and two Eagle brothers.
Gollum - Only 1 card!
Isengard - Free Peoples only for Saruman as head of the White Council.
Orc - Centred around the War of the Dwarves and Orcs.
Sauron - Some Spiders of Dol Guldur and a different take on Smaug.
Shire - The Took line including the Old Took and Belladonna.
Wraith - Minions of Dol Guldur including the Necromancer himself.
White - More sites for all these back-stories.

Interesting ability. I think I like it. Smile

This companion’s twilight cost is -1 in your starting fellowship.
Each time this companion wins a skirmish, you may exert a minion.
’Very good,’ laughed the chief of the guards, ’I’ll taste with you, and see if it is fit for the king’s table.’
H1 U 67

You could start with two of him...not bad, not bad at all. Perhaps require spotting an Elf for that twilight reduction, though.

At the start of the archery phase, you may spot 3 Elves to wound a minion.
For most of them... were descended from the ancient tribed that never went to Faerie in the West.
H1 R 78

Ah, so you DID do Legolas. I think his resistance should be 6 though, shouldn’t it?

Skirmish: If you cannot spot a Dwarf, heal a minion Thranduil is skirmishing to make that minion strength -2.
On his head was a crown of berries and red leaves, for the autumn was come again...
H1 R 86

Kinda harsh anti-Dwarf stuff, but I certainly understand it. Looks fine to me, though I would consider something like "heal a minion Thranduil is skirmishing to make a minion strength -1 (or -2 if skirmishing Thranduil)." Then it can help out your other Elves, which makes sense for the Elvenking, I think. Smile

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!

Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North!

Thanks Dain. I made Legolas’ resistance 5 because he seemed a rather powerful version, and it was also a theme of the Mirkwood Elves.

I’ll make some changes in a second.

Spammers really are amazing creatures. You can learn all there is to know about their ways in a month. And yet, after a hundred years, they can still surprise you. Razz

Wow, it’s like SoP and Dain are the same person! Eh?

In this block, I use no other DC keywords (especially as I wrote all these cards before coming onto this forum) and I don’t use hunter for 2 reasons: firstly, I don’t like it as a keyword, and secondly I wrote these cards quite a while before Hunters block.

Thanks for your review, SoP!

I knew there was something fishy about you two...

Now for some lovely possessions and reprints:

2 Elven Spear Elven
Possession ● Hand Weapon
Str: +1
Bearer must be an Elf.
Each time bearer is assigned to skirmish a minion, you may exert that minion.
Their spears and swords shone in the gloom with a gleam of chill flame...
H1 C 72

(I’d made this card before sword of the fallen, by the way)
1 Elven Armor Elven
Possession ● Armor
Bearer must be an Elf.
Each minion skirmishing bearer is strength -1 for each wound on that minion.
A hobbit in elvish armour, partly wrapped in an old blanket, was something new to them.
H1 U 65

Obviously you know the following cards, but I’ve put them here for 3 reasons.
1) For completeness
2) They appear in The Hobbit as reprints to avoid the issue of rotation
3) I’ve found some nice lore texts for them (if you can identify the scene, I’ll be impressed - and you might be a little surprised Wink )

1 Elven Bow Elven
Possession ● Ranged Weapon
Bearer must be an Elf.
Bearer is an archer.
As soon as they had landed he had bent his bow and fitted an arrow...
H1 C 66

1 Feathered Elven
Event ● Skirmish
Make a minion skirmishing an Elf strength -2 for each wound on that minion.
Now he sent a swift and sure shot into the leaping beast.
H1 C 76

JUST different enough from Sword of the Fallen to be okay, I think.

No some cards to finish off the Elven culture.

1 Dorwinion Wine Elven
Possession
Bearer must be an Elf.
Fellowship: Discard this possession to discard a Shadow card borne by an Elven companion (and remove a threat if you cannot spot a Dwarf).
... this wine, it would seem, was the heady vintage of the greatest gardens of Dorwinion...
H1 C 63

1 Elven Wine Elven
Possession
Bearer must be an Elf.
Fellowship: Discard this possession to heal an Elf (and remove a threat if you cannot spot a Dwarf).
’Now come with me,’ he said, ’and taste the new wine that has just come in.’
H1 U 74

1 Great Hunt Elven
Event ● Skirmish
Make an Elf strength +2. If that Elf wins this skirmish, you may wound a minion skirmishing an archer.
... though they saw no sign of it.
H1 U 77

3 Neverending Feast Elven
Event ● Fellowship
To play, spot 3 Elves.
Heal 2 Elves and draw 2 cards.
’I dreamed I was walking in a forest rather like this one, only lit with torches on the trees... and there was a great feast going on, going on for ever.’
H1 R 81

And to tie the elves of mirkwood and rivendell a little:

1 Wise Advice Elven
Condition ● Support Area
To play, spot an Elf (or an Elven follower).
Maneuver: Exert an Elf to reveal the top card of your draw deck.
Locked: Maneuver: Place an Elven card from play on top of your draw deck. Discard this condition.
’Stand by the grey stone when the thrush knocks...’

Mostly very uninspiring, I know, but it gets a lot more fun in later sets, and next time will see the Gandalf culture.
