I’ll come back to Trees later. Right now, I think it’s time to get to the meat of the culture: the Nazgûl!
Here’s their leader, along with some of his possessions. Like AP, these cards will have to tide you over until Saturday, as I’ll be gone all day tomorrow. Until then, enjoy!
•The Witch-king, Morgul-lord of the Black Riders
Minion • Nazgûl
Strength: 14
Vitality: 4
Site: 3
Fierce.
Each mounted Nazgûl gains hunter 1.
Maneuver: Exert The Witch-king twice and spot another Nazgûl to play a condition from your draw deck. If that condition may be transferred to a companion, you may transfer it to an eligible bearer (except the Ring-bearer), ignoring normal transferring requirements.
“Then the leader, who was now half across the Ford, stood up menacing in his stirrups, and raised up his hand. Frodo was stricken dumb.”
•The Witch-king, Tall and Merciless
Minion • Nazgûl
Strength: 14
Vitality: 4
Site: 3
Twilight. Enduring. Fierce.
Each time a condition or possession is played on or transferred to a companion, you may heal The Witch-king to exert that companion.
“The third was taller than the others....He sprang forward and bore down on Frodo.”
•The Pale Blade, Sword of Morgul Steel
Possession • Hand Weapon
Strength +3
Bearer must be the Witch-king.
While you can spot 2 burdens, the Witch-king gains hunter 2.
While you can spot 4 burdens, the Witch-king is damage +1.
“In one hand he held a long sword....”
•The Witch-king’s Steed, Bred by the Dark Lord
Possession • Mount
Strength +2
Bearer must be a Nazgûl.
If bearer is The Witch-king, at the start of each assignment phase, you may choose to make him gain lurker or choose to make the Free Peoples player resolve his skirmish before all others.
“‘The Ring! The Ring!’ they cried with deadly voices; and immediately their leader urged his horse forward into the water....” |

Bold hunter 1. I’d make his maneuver phase action add-on at the end of the sentence: "(Except the ring-bearer)" Or all you need is Lost in the Woods and Shadowy Mount.

Awesome! for that. Might make it the same card title as the The Witch King’s Beast. |
In his eyes was the look of a hunted beast seeking some gap in the ring of his enemies. |

Wow. Pretty nice, esp. with a vitality-upping ring. Killer with Blade Tip. Hunter 1 needs to be bolded. Beyond that, no problems.

Nice, but it wouldn’t work with stuff like blade tip, because D specified that "skirmishing a nazgul" is part of the bearing requirements when some question came up about that and Strange-Looking Men.

Cool cards! Both Witch-kings are awesome, I’d have a hard time choosing which one is my favorite. I’m also in favor of giving the twilight Witch-king a 14 strength.
The pale blade is a nice card, fine as it is, and I absolutely love the idea for the steed. |

I think Morgul-lord of the Black Riders works right now, but if you don’t agree, please tell me how I can fix it. Any suggested rewording I go with will earn a .
For now, though, let’s get "Wikkie"’s right-hand man posted. Those of you who reviewed my Nazgûl know that I’ve introduced a new Nazzie: Khamûl. I think he, the ONLY named Nazgûl in Tolkien’s works, deserves a place in the card game based on those works. Decipher decided to give some of this character’s material to Úlairë Attëa, and while I think that, in general, their naming of the Nazgûl is fine, Khamûl should have been part of it from the beginning.
So, I created a version of him as the chief Nazgûl of Lasting Alliances, and since he’s so important a character in Fellowship of the Ring (he’s the Nazzie that we usually see on Frodo’s heals, whether in the woods outside the Shire or Bucklebury Ferry or Bree), he gets TWO versions in this set.
For Khamûl’s full history, see here. For his Road Ahead DCs, see below.
•Úlairë Khamûl, Shadow of the East
Minion • Nazgûl
Strength: 11
Vitality: 4
Site: 3
Lurker. Fierce. Hunter 1.
Each time the fellowship moves, you may spot 3 threats or exert Úlairë Khamûl to discard a follower or take a search card into hand from your draw deck or discard pile.
“But as they looked it seemed to move and sway this way and that, as if searching the ground. It then crawled, or went crouching, back into the gloom....”
•Úlairë Khamûl, The Black Easterling
Minion • Nazgûl
Strength: 11
Vitality: 4
Site: 3
Twilight. Lurker. Hunter 2.
While you can spot 3 burdens or the Ring-bearer is exhausted, Úlairë Khamûl is fierce.
Each time Úlairë Khamûl wins a fierce skirmish, you may add a threat.
“Of Khamûl it is said that he was the most ready of all the Nazgûl, after the Black Captain himself, to percieve the presence of the Ring....”
•Sword of Amon Lanc, Blade of the East
Possession • Hand Weapon
Strength +2
Bearer must be Úlairë Khamûl.
If he does not have any other damage bonuses, Úlairë Khamûl is damage +1.
Each time Úlairë Khamûl wins a skirmish, you may add a threat (or, if that skirmish was a fierce skirmish, remove a threat to add a burden).
The weapons of the Nine are wrought with sorcery. |
