You can’t counter a spell with a Sorcery, it’s impossible. You have to ´play the counterspell in response to a spell, and only instants do that. Overpowered as an instant, too, check counterspell. It’s new version is Cancel. |

I designed it this way thinking that it may counter any spells an opponent plays during my turn. An instant is played, and i counter it.... |

Still doesn’t work. Sorceries can only be played in your main phase, and are "slower", thus, it’s IMPOSSIBLE to respond to a spell with a sorcery, as it is with casting a creature spell, playing an enchantment or playing an artifact, unless some ability says you can play the given type of card any time you could play an instant (like Teferi). What would happen is that your opponent plays an instant in your turn, you’re powerless. Once it has ALREADY resolved and taken place, you get priority again, to cast your sorcery. But then again, you can’t cast it, since you don’t have a legal target. Unless the wording was "counter the first spell played by an opponent this turn", it won’t work as you want. Rules issues, I know, but still rules. |

basically, a sorcery can only be played when you have priority, when the stack is empty, and only during your mainphase. Of course this always has ways around it, like quicken. |

But then, it’d be a VERY terrible card. I mean, it’s a two-for-one counterspell. Thus, re-wording might be the better way out. |

Hey, you’re right! That card’s so bad, I actually forgot about it! I mean, it’s good in theory, but all my decks end up lacking space for it! |

Yeah, and you can always play quicken in hope of DRAWING counter spellion!
I’ll change the wording anyway. |

Actually, I’ve seen some U/W control decks will use quicken with WoG because opposing decks tend to overextend with things like giant solifuge, thinking that even if WoG hits, they’ll have gotten four burn in. This is great against haste or people with moldervine cloak, or just as an extra surprise against people who play creatures before attacking. |
