Here are a set of rules that Pipeweed and I have discussed and decided will best suit the Roleplay environment for the Lord of the Rings Roleplay forums.

1. If you wish to start a thread PM Pipeweed or I and let us know what it is going to be about, where it is going to happen, and so on so that we avoid Redundant threads.

2. For now there is a two character limit one good guy and one bad guy this way we can kind of keep things under control until we decide to up the limit.

3. Bad guys please PM the game master of a thread before you jump in and start hacking at everybody. I mean are there really trolls in mirkwood?

4. If we give you permission to start a new thread make sure you post the rules in your initial OOC discussion post so that way no one gets confused and stuff of that sort.

If there are any other questions feel free to ask. Also, if there is something that you feel needs to be addressed to make this forum a better place for everybody let Pipeweed or I know and we will discuss it and hopefully come up with a solution. Happy Roleplay!

Cheers,
WitchKingBlkCapt

This is meant for an example so that all may see the comparison between good and bad posts on the RP forums.

Bad Post: Dunagalar turned around and shot the orc running towards him.

Good Post: Dunaglar heard the muffled sound of footsteps, and stood for a second to figure out which direction they were coming from. As soon as he realized they were coming from behind, he spun around and his hand quickly reached into his quiver for an arrow, bow already in hand. The arrow was then nocked, aimed and let loose, hitting an orc’s neck with a deadly accuracy. The orc fell and rolled right in front of Dunaglar, but he simply looked down and laughed. Orcs’ lives were of no value to him.

Additional Rules:

No God-Moding
God-Moding is, basically, making your character a god. Your one little character killing three rampaging trolls in one post is god-moding. As NBarden puts it:

NBarden wrote:
Going up to them, lopping off one of their heads in single combat, turning and letting loose an arrow that kills the second and then destroying the other with magic would be god-moding.

Unless you’re a valar.

Anyways, God-Moding posts will be deleted upon request, and multiple offenses may result in removal from the RPG group, and people may deny you the right to participate in their threads.

No Spam
Spamming here, like in other forums, is prohibited. Spammy or irrelevant posts will be deleted, and multiple offenses may result in removal from the RPG group, and people may deny you the right to participate in their threads.

Added Info
All RPG ideas must be submitted to an RPG mod (that is, me or WKBC). Start an OOC thread before beginning an RPG, that details what the RPG is, what character types can join (we don’t want any more trolls in Mirkwood), and other needed information. The OOC thread must be formatted like this:

Name of RPG (OOC - Status of RPG - RPG Type)

The RPG statuses are Open (meaning new people can join) Closed (meaning no more people are allowed in) and Complete (meaning the RPG is over and done, and can be locked by a mod). Please put these in all caps.

The RPG type options will be detailed in the post below.

The Actual RPG should be formatted like this:

Name of RPG (Status of RPG - RPG Type)

Thanks!

RPG Types

Freeform (Abbreviated FF in the RPG posts)
This is the most open RPG format. There is no dicing, no DC’s, nothing but complex stoires and varied fighting. No God-modes, no Spam, all fun!

You can have 3 Freeform characters, One Good, one Bad, one Special (put an SP by the character type in the character posting thread). Special characters are for RPG’s that only allow a limited character type, and your RPG characters aren’t of that type, or of that time. Dead RPG characters don’t count towards your total (so long as you don’t bring them back to life).

Diced (Abbreviated D in the RPG posts)
D&D style diced RPGs, a story supplimented by character growth, dice, items, enemies, all that jazz. I won’t have a standard character type format, weapons, anything, that is up to the creater of the RPG thread, and should be included in the first post of the OOC.

Continuous RP (Abbreviated CN in the RPG Posts)
In all continuous roleplays, you will be playing a single Free Peoples and/or Shadow character. This character will start with a basic set of weapons and armor, and no combat experience. Through training and then participation in RPGs, he or she will become more experienced and "colorful". Regular Freeform rules apply to Continuous RP.

Note: Please add (CN) by the name of the charater you use for continuous RPG’s, whether those characters are new ones you create for CN RP’s, or already-established ones. It wouldn’t hurt to add their CN rank as well. Check out Silvarin as an example. Thumbs Up

Other (Abbreviated O in RPG posts)
Stuff like DC RPG’s. Be creative!

If you have any questions, PM me!

Thanks!
