Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!

Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North!

And finally we get to the long awaited Bombur!!!

1 •Bombur, At Your Service Dwarven
Companion • Dwarf
Strength: 5
Vitality: 3
Resistance: 4
Damage +1.
To play, add a burden.
While you can spot Bilbo, Bombur is damage +1.
While you can spot Thorin, Bombur is enduring.

1 •Bombur, The Immense Dwarven
Companion • Dwarf
Strength: 5
Vitality: 3
Resistance: 4
Damage +1. Muster.
To play, add a burden.
While skirmishing a [orc] or fierce minion, Bombur is defender +1.

Bombur was handicapped by his size, (When Gloin met Frodo Baggins at Rivendell in 3018, he reported that Bombur had become so fat that he could not walk and had to be carried to the table by six stout Dwarves (tuckborough)) but that did not stop him from being a useful companion on the quest for the Lonely Mountain. so his initial stats are low, but he can still be a fiesty dwarf, and a good asset. i would like to keep his twilight cost at 1, my concern is that his texts are too good for the cost.

Drop the enduring and make him hunter 1.

hmm Think ... well, he was so fat that i thought hunter didn’t really fit, and that the enduring was good because it is something that the dwarves don’t have, and bombur endured a lot through the quest. i’ll wait for a few more reviews before changing anything. Thanks!

is there any way i could take something out to keep him at cost 1? that would really help give him a unique feel.

Realistically, he’d need to have his vitality dropped to 2 to cost only 1, or you’d be breaking long-established cost rules. Two options you might consider which would allow him to keep his current stats, I think:

- Make his cost 1, but have it go up if you can’t meet certain spotting requirements and/or add another cost, like adding a threat or burden or something. The latter might be appropriate for a sometimes-burden like Bombur.

- Make his cost 2, but able to be reduced if you meet certain spotting requirements/pay another cost/etc.

If you really insist on it, I think the best thing story-wise is that he cost 1 but add a burden or threat when you play him, Sort of a like a cross between a Dwarf and Smeagol. Razz If you do that, you could probably even get away with raising his strength to 6, if you wanted to.

NOW you’re on to something. Very unique, balanced (I think), and fits well with the story. I may even go do that burden thing with my versions of Bombur in Lasting Alliances. Very Happy

On second thought, with his nice abilities, he’s probably better with only 5 strength. But other than that, I think he’s pretty good. I’d certainly considering using him, especially the second one.
