Okay, now I’m worried. Because Brad used the word "Scourging", so this could mean that the card really will be "Scourging of the Shire". Please, no! This would be a terrible misuse of words! Especially considering that SotS is Shire...

This works grammatically doesn’t it? Certainly doesn’t sound good though.

tr.v. scourged, scourg·ing, scourg·es
1. To afflict with severe or widespread suffering and devastation; ravage.
2. To chastise severely; excoriate.
3. To flog.

But does this word actually appear in the book? Why not scouring? Typo?

The problem, which I imagine is the same problem worrying CG, is that Tolkien used "Scouring", not "Scourging". BIG difference. Such an obvious blunder would be worthy of many, many noogies. Perhaps even a swirlie or two.

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!

Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North!

Okay, if anyone’s a member of the D boards (and I think several CCers are), you should start a thread to call attention to this mistake-in-the-making...probably want to mention the following points.

-To "scourge" means "To afflict with severe or widespread suffering and devastation; ravage."
-The "Scourging of the Shire" is a Shire card.
-The logical conclusion: this card is about Shire companions ravaging the Shire!!!
-The alternative, which I’m guessing was originally intended, should be "Scouring of the Shire", which is the title of the second-to-last chapter of LOTR.

Let’s fix this thing!
