Can anyone explain to me what happens with this card when it goes head-to-head with, say, Sarumans Power?

You get 4 conditions left on the table. Because the FP gets to choose which get discarded first.
Unless you want to discard Scouring of the Shire first.
But I would just blow SotS up to protect as many conditions as possible, then lose the rest. |

This card is really pretty good. You can even have more than one copy of it going at once.
Against corsair marauder what happens? He wouldn’t get the tokens if the discard got prevented would he? |

This is an awesome card! Keep adding the tokens to preserve your conditions, and remove the tokens with Bill the Pony (or some other cards maybe out there) to keep it in play.
