Spot a Rohan Man to choose one: add 1 to return a Rohan possession from your discard pile to hand, add 2 to return a Rohan follower from your discard pile to hand, or add 3 to make each valiant companion gain hunter 1 until the regroup phase.

Given Rohan’s strengths, I think at least 1 and maybe 2 of those abilities should be fetching instead of recursion, but I still love this theme!

Valiant.
To play, discard Eowyn. Eowyn may not be played.
When you play Dernhelm, you may play Eowyn’s Sword on him from your draw deck or discard pile, ignoring bearer requirements.
Skirmish: Exert Dernhelm to cancel a skirmish involving an unbound hobbit. Any shadow player may remove 3 to prevent this.
"’Where will wants not, a way opens,’ so we say," he whispered; "and so I have found myself."

Dernhelm’s play cost makes ’him’ pretty worthless, because it means you have to play Eowyn first then replace one with the other. Take out the first 2 words, then it’s fine, and probably needs an ability more with fighting rather than hobbits. Interesting idea, though.

2 A Hobbit’s Song Shire
Event * Fellowship
Tale.
Spot a Hobbit to return a Shire tale from your discard pile to your hand.
Fellowship: Remove this event and 2 other Shire cards from your discard pile from the game to remove a burden.
’But we have no songs fit for great halls and evil times, lord. We seldom sing of anything more terrible than wind or rain. And most of my songs are about things that make us laugh; or about food and drink, of course.’

2 *Silver-Star Helm Gondor
Possession * Helm
Vitality: +1
Bearer must be a knight (or Pippin).
Response: If bearer is about to take a wound, add 2 threats to prevent that wound.
...a high-crowned helm with small raven-wings on either side, set with a silver star in the centre of the circlet.

8 Devouring Light Orc
Event * Shadow
Toil 2.
Discard the top card of the Free Peoples player’s draw deck for each burden you can spot (limit X, where X is the number of Orc minions you can spot).
Then, if the Free Peoples player has 20 or less cards in their deck, add a burden.

Too powerful. The first ability is good enough without it then getting you a free burden removal. Cut that bit.

Hmmm maybe ok. Might need cost 2.

I’m worried about how powerful this could become. The burden part should indeed go, but think about this scenario:

You have 2 of these in hand. You play one to pull 2 tales back from discard, then play the other to pull another tale and the first copy of this card back. Now you can repeat over and over as long as one of the tales you pull back is a copy of this card. You could pull ANY number of tales back! Despite the cost that would incur, I think the potential infinite loop makes this slightly broken. Solution? Much as it pains me, drop the tale on this card.

Inventive for sure, and in-line with a couple other Orc cards. I’d cap X somehow though...perhaps limit it to the number of Orc minions you can spot. That would pretty much ensure it would top off at 4 or 5, which is evil, but not overly so.

I think the second ability would be fine if you had to remove say another 2 or 3 Shire cards from the game to remove a burden. As for the rest, I would take out the exertion and make it only 1 tale to deal with DI’s point.

But who can be bothered to go through and count your deck in the middle of a game! Razz Good card, and nice and inventive. I like it a lot! However, I might make it spot say 3 minions and/or maybe make it a regroup event so that it’s harder to pull off.

1 Armor of the Tower Guard Gondor
Possession * Armor
Strength: +1
Bearer must be a Gondor man (or Pippin).
The minion archery total is -1.
If bearer is Pippin, he can take no more than 1 wound per skirmish.
Now he was one small soldier in a city preparing for a great assault, clad in the proud but sombre manner of the Tower of Guard.

2 The Weight of Duty Orc
Event * Maneuver
Toil 1.
Spot an Orc minion to discard a possession (except a weapon).
The hauberk was burdensome, and the helm weighed upon his head. His cloak he had cast aside upon the seat.

3 *The Shadow of War Orc
Condition * Support Area
Engine. Epic. (This condition cannot be discarded).
To play, exert an Orc minion or a besieger.
When you play this condition, place X Orc tokens here where X is the current region number.
Each time the fellowship moves, add an Orc token here.
Response: If a companion is killed, remove all Orc tokens from here. The Free Peoples player must wound a companion for each token removed in this way.
This is some device of his malice; some broil of fume from the Mountain of Fire that he sends to darken hearts and counsel.

If you play it in Region 1, you get 1 token from the first part, but more from moving. Played in later regions, you get more tokens but less moves. See?

I think that last part should be "can take no more than 1 wound in each skirmish". I like it. Thumbs Up

That seems too easy, doesn’t it? Taking a cue from similiar events like Bold and Cunning and Broken Heirloom, I think this should be more expensive and possibly have toil and/or should require special circumstances (an exhausted companion, perhaps) to work.

Yeah, I get it. I THINK I like it, but it sure seems awfully powerful. Just imagine this paired with a threat-adding strategy! Kill a companion, wound the rest of the fellowship to death. Nasty!
