Pippin, Mr. Took has the following ability.
Fellowship: Play Gandalf or Aragorn; his twilight cost is -2.
Now, if I were to combo this with another card that played Gandalf during the regroup phase (say, A Wizard Is Never Late, Well Met Indeed, or Sent Back), would the twilight reduction offered by Pippin’s text trigger, or not? |

Two twilight cost reduction effects cannot be combined. For example, you cannot use Morgul Gates and Dark Approach to reduce the twilight cost of the same Nazgûl. |
I had to put something here. |

I figured as such, but I wanted to make sure.
Very well, then. Mr. Took remains all but useless. |

i think it only works for the cards that play the character from hand. so, sent back: yes. the others no. because they don’t play from hand.

This is not entirely correct. You cannot combine 2 phase actions, nor a phase action with something that triggers at the start of the phase, etc.
Two twilight reductions can be used together, for example in the case of Eomer, Third Marshal of Riddermark and Eowyn, Lady of the Mark.

Let me rephrase that: Two twilight cost reduction events cannot be combined. |
I had to put something here. |

To clarify, when you use Mr. Took, you are using a Fellowship action. WHen it resolves, you’ve played Gandalf for -2. If you use A Wizard is Never Late, you’ll have played Gandalf when it resolves. Thus, you can’t play ANOTHER Gandalf since you already have one down. So, it’s not that you can’t combine reductions, but that you can’t perform actions at the same time, you must perform then one at a time. |

Whew, haven’t posted here for a while!!!! Let’s get to business. The obvious answer is no, but let’s get down to it.
First of all you cannot combine different phase actions unless a cards allows you to. Pippin’s text is used during fellowship whereas supposing we use a regroup as you suggested, well sorry but you cannot.
Aside from that, you cannot nest one phase action within another. For example, no double morgul gates.
Then again, sent back plays Gandy from the dead pile, not by hand as suggested by MR Took (set by default).
Quote: Let me rephrase that: Two twilight cost reduction events cannot be combined.
This is wrong.
Event A: SHADOW: all nazgul are twilight cost -1 until the regroup phase
Event B: Morgul Gates/Dark Approach
I combined the effects of bath cards and i am legal. |

He was actually a pretty good card in Fellowship block where the only other good Pippin was Pippin Hobbit of Some Intelligence. Started Pippin and had 4 gandalf/Aragorn in the deck, you could get them out pretty cheap and he also made a nice snack for the Balrog at site 5. I have seen several good decks play him, but as I said only in Fellowship block. |
