I have to admit this is frustrating. I started this whole thing, unaware of the fact that most people here don’t even know what a limmerick is!!!
A limmerick is meant to be a short, humorous poem. The whole point is to be funny. Here’s an example:
A couple of camels desperate for action,
Climbed up the mountains for a little lip action,
They couldn’t get down because of their fear of heights,
And they became quite the tourist attraction.
OK NOW IS ANYONE GOING TO JOIN THIS CONTEST???
If not I’ll forget the whole thing. |

A limerick also has to have a specific syllabic and rhyming structure and rhythm. For example:
There was an Old Man in a tree, - 7-10 A
Who was horribly bored by a Bee; - 7-10 A
When they said, ’Does it buzz?’ - 5-7 B
He replied, ’Yes, it does!’ - 5-7 B
’It’s a regular brute of a Bee!’ - 7-10 A
And they’re usually about Old Men from Irish towns.
I’ll join with one I cooked up for the occasion. Do you want me to post the limmerick at the link?
