Ok I will do the situation first then the question. Here we go:

During a game with SM we were at site 9 (East Wall of Rohan I believe) I had Radagast, The Brown, Gandalf, Returned, and Frodo, Weary from the Journey in my Fellowship. I also had sent back (and other unimportant cards to the situation) in my support area. She Played Saruman, Agent of the Dark Lord, Lookout Uruk and Invincible Uruk. I assigned Lookout Uruk to Frodo, Invincible Uruk to Radagast, and Saruman to Gandalf. Now to the question (probably stupid, but just making sure):

Saruman is a lurker so his skirmish is last (this I know), I started the Skirmish with Radagast and the Invincible Uruk. I used Sent Back to send Gandalf to the dead pile and make SM discard Saruman. Was I able to use Sent Back like that? I get confused sometimes and wasn’t absolutely sure that I could do this with Gandalf unless it was Gandalf’s turn to skirmish.

Only reason I decided to do it like this was I knew she would use Saruman’s text on the Lookout Uruk to Overwhelm him, and I was able to survive without the dreaded exerting pumps of Saruman. Was my use of Sent Back Legal or did I once again do something incorrect? I asked her and she also thought it was a legal move, but she wasn’t 100% ether. So I decided before my next game with the deck I would be sure.

Once again since I tend to Babble alot:

Can I use Sent Back on Gandalf during a Skirmish with another companion?

I think yes since Merry and Pippin go to hand when it’s not their actual skirmish, but not sure if conditions work the same way. Any and all replies are gladly appreciated.

Skirmish:Discard this condition to discard each minion skirmishing a Wizard. Place that Wizard in your dead pile.

Unnecessary gametext omitted.

Because the minions you want to discard must be skirmishing, that particular skirmish must be the active one (ie, only in that companion’s skirmish), so that was not a legal play.

Sorry NK.
When we do it in Iraq, it's called progress. When we do it here in the US, it's called socialism.

ok, I guess I officially lost the game then. I guess I deserve that for triple moving through region 3 with just 3 companions Shocked . I did have a sucessful double with no problems. I just got stengy knowing she was whipping the crap out of my shadow (stupid namarie against Orc). Thanks for the fast reply hawkeyespf GP for that if you need it.

Ah, I understand now. I thought that because it said "Skirmish:" that it could be used at any time during the skirmish phase. But I see what hawkeye means, that the minion actually has to be skirmishing a wizard when the card is used. Thanks hawkeye for the answer, and thanks to NK for the great game. Thumbs Up GP ’s for both of you, when I can give them.

Wow, I actually won! Shocked
Trade With Me, I went to Middle Earth, and all I got was this stupid ring!

That’s not all that surprising. Your decks are pretty good.

Can’t say for NK, since I haven’t played him since he had first started. But I assume his decks have gotten better. Very Happy

Yeah that was it here it is as modified a bit:

Deck size is 33

Starting (4)
*The One Ring, The Ring of Doom
*Frodo, Weary From The Journey
*Gandalf, Leader of the Company
*Smeagol, Slippery Sneak

Fellowship (31)
2x *Radagast’s Staff
2x *Gandalf, Returned
4x *Radagast, The Brown
2x Not the First Halfling
3x Sent Back
3x Strange Meeting
2x Watch and Wait
2x Look to My Coming
2x Saved From The Fire
1x Something Slimy
2x The Terror of His Coming
1x *Alatar, Final Envoy
1x *Pallando, Far-travelling One
1x *Gandalf’s Hat
1x *Glamdring, Elven Blade
1x *Shadowfax, Roaring Wind
1x *Sting, Bane of the Eight Legs

I decided to go with Smeagol as an extra comp so I could use Dammed-Gate Stream to hurry things up a bit, then discard him for regroup or simply let him get killed. I ran it with out him, but when I played saved from the fire and gave a ton of twilight with just 3 comps I was crushed. I decided to just go with more Radagast and less Saved From the Fire to lessen the twilight, but left in two just incase I didn’t pull one of the several Radagast to start maybe I would grab one of those instead. Not Perfect nor a tournament level deck, but when Dain posted about one I decided to give it a try and it works pretty good Very Happy .

I’m thinking that you should probably run Gandalf, Leader of Men with, say, Gimli, Eager Hunter. Nice to have a gigantic damage +1 guy to mop everything up.

I would have to agree with you on that NB, but just a theme style deck really nothing pretty about it Very Happy . Just going to go with Smeagol to help start things and get rid of him ASAP to make it a wizards defending the bearer style deck. I was surprised when playing against SM’s Battleground Uruks how my Wizards were able to actually win the skirmishes though. Alatar with those 3 Strange Meetings out made the difference. Radagast was a 12 before events and token removing and making the minions strength -1. Gandy was a pretty descent 14 before events and token removal as well. They held there own pretty well in skirmishes Shocked . I probably won’t make this my most played deck, but it was pretty fun. I did borrow a deck of your that you posted as the shadow (just to lazy to try and come up with one of my own). I used your Strength Lowering Orc deck. It would have worked so well, but unfortunately see ran Hunter Elves as her fellowship. Stupid Namaries getting 5 tokens a play Evil or Very Mad . Thats just how the game goes I guess.

Maybe Meneldor as well?

I prefer him more in my dedicated follower deck, though, Pallando, Radagast, Alatar, Gwaihir and Meneldor w/ Barliman Butterbur and Strange Meeting. Very Happy
