Now that I’ve fully immersed myself in yet ANOTHER set, Ages of Middle-earth, I’m pondering which direction to go in next.
For those who haven’t been following the set (or even those who have), it’s centered around the RPG game Lord of the Rings: The Third Age by EA Games. I intended the set to be rather small and feature ONLY material from TTA, but it’s taken a life of its own as I’ve worked on it, and it’s now more of a new Reflections-style set. It will form a bit of a bookend to my first set, Lasting Alliances, which was centered around The Hobbit, the Last Alliances of Elves and Men, and other events that took place before the final battles of the Third Age. Now my newly-rechristened Ages of Middle-earth will return to some of these earlier events...and also delve into some lesser-known events from the latter Third Age. The characters and events from TTA are still a centerpiece, but now they share company with others. For just a few examples of what the set will now feature:
- A return to Erebor, Dale, and Mirkwood--where we haven’t really spent much time since Lasting Alliances--sending out the expanded Men and my original Mirkwood culture with a bang.
- A return, once again, to Moria, featured prominently in my first two sets but all but abandoned in my third and fourth. (Ages is the fifth.)
- Unusual minions like Trolls, Wargs (without riders!), spell-casting goblins, and non-unique Nazgûl.
- Spells in cultures they’ve never been seen in before, like , , , and !
- Old favorites portrayed in a new light, like a damage-capable Legolas, a Balrog (and other nasties)-hating Gandalf, a (built-in) Andúril-bearing Aragorn, a fighting Gríma, and more!
Anyway. So far all I’ve spoiled from the set has been some general, not-specific-to-any-one-culture stuff. Now it’s time to pick one culture and stick with it for a while. So, as I’ve done for many of my other sets, I’ll let YOU pick what direction I take next. Since some cultures are further along than others, I won’t list every possible option right now, but a few for you to choose from. So...choose! |

Check out Lasting Alliances, The Road Ahead, and Ages of Middle-earth, three of my five dream card sets that make up Wars of the Ring. Oh, and I have a trade list now!
Also, if you're into DCs or RPGs (or even if you're not!), check out Realms of Middle-earth, the sequel to CG's "DC Adventure", Realms of the North! |

I’m afraid I’m going to be rather unhelpful and vote for some Dwarves (which are obviously my favourite FP culture).

I’m tempted to go with , seeing as that’s the only one that DIDN’T get a vote!
Seriously, though, now I REALLY don’t know what to do. Seems like everyone wants something different. Unless there is a clear frontrunner in the next couple hours (unlikely), I’ll probably go with or , since those are the leaders right now. Hmmmm.... |
