Well, then play standard and that event wouldn’t be valid. Thumbs Up

Standard isn’t as....cool, though. What do you guys think is the overall best-balanced and most fun to play format though? Block format for the old movie sets, perhaps? A lot of people seem to think FOTR is the best. Want to hear some opinions on this. :S

Keep in mind that A Ranger’s Versatility is indeed an errata.

FOTR is the best because there are barely any broken combos compared to every other format. Also Lurtz, Servant of Isengard is in FOTR. Applause

An errata? What kind of errata?

And yes, FOTR is definitely the most balanced. But what about Open format fun? What’s your second fave format, Lurtzy? Smile

Troll Swarm is an absolutely wicked shadow. a lot of fun. i wouldn’t say "unbeatable" but it is a tough deck.

How does one do Troll Swarm? A lot of them don’t have too much vitality...and they’re costly, so they would fall to Elves. Or Rangers. (Like everything else) Unless you can give me a decklist to prove me wrong, of course. O_o

Trust me, Troll Swarm is brutal. Very brutal. You mentioned Elves? They’re Troll food. I don’t have a decklist, but the general idea is to use underground sites with Goblin Hordes to pull Trolls from your discard pile, and then the swarm is achieved by using Troll’s Keyward, Keeper of the Beast (sometimes with an Orc Warg) to add tons of twilight. Slap Relentless Warg or Vicious Warg on the Keeper and he has 5 vitality, meaning you can use his exertion text 4 times. Let’s say you have 4 Trolls in hand: 4 exertions x 4 Trolls = 16 added twilight, which is enough to play 2 of those Trolls with twilight left over.

I like Retribution Troll Swarm, with Hill Orc for extra punishment.

4 x Troll’s Keyward, Keeper of the Beast
3 x Tower Troll (good for large fellowships)
3 x Porter Troll (good addition with Retribution)
3 x Beastly Olog-hai (for getting rid of artifacts)
3 x Ordnance Grunt (if you are ever without a troll)
1 x Mountain-troll (plays Keyward if you dont have him, and is HUGE)
2 x Hill Orc (might need him to spot, plus with Retribution its no problem getting him to work)

Archery against these lot.... Mountain-troll has 6 vitality.
With the trolls I use, Goblin Hordes is a bonus, not a must.

The real pain against these is IB.
