Ungoliant - Mother of Spiders
Twilight Cost: 17
Strength: 27
Vitality: 14
Resistance: 3
Damage +3. Exert Ungoliant twice to discard two Free Peoples companions. Exert Ungoliant four times to wound the Ring-bearer twice or add five burdens. |
I had to put something here. |

Spammers really are amazing creatures. You can learn all there is to know about their ways in a month. And yet, after a hundred years, they can still surprise you. |

Um, with this card you can corrupt your opponent with ease. 8 exertions, and 10 burdens are immediately placed. If their Ring-bearer has more than 10 resistance, just exert 4 more times....
Here’s one of my ideas for Ungoliant:
[10] •Ungoliant, Gloom Weaver
Minion • Spider
Strength: 8
Vitality: 8
Site Number: 8
Enduring. Fierce.
Each time Ungoliant wins a skirmish, you may exert a companion.
Skirmish: Discard a minion to make Ungoliant strength +2. |

That’s a good suggestion, but come on, we must acknowledge that Ungoliant is extremely powerful. With all due respect, if you do enough research, you will discover that Shelob is much smaller than Ungoliant. Hence, Ungoliant would have a higher strength. Also, Ungoliant once tried to devour Morgoth. She nearly succeeded. A creature of that size would be nearly invincible. Since Mother of Spiders is a rather powerful card, let’s go somewhere in the middle and say:
Ungoliant - Mother of Darkness
Twilight Cost: 12
Strength: 22
Vitality: 12
Resistance: 4
Enduring. Damage +2.
Exert Ungoliant once to wound any companion. Exert Ungoliant twice to add two burdens and exert her three times to add three burdens. |

Sauron is also extremely powerful, but he’s not nearly as powerful in the game as he was in the movies. For example, in the game he can’t take out tons of Elves and Men at once.

Size is not directly related to strength. Elves are taller than Men, but they often have less strength. Durin is a lot shorter than Aragorn, but Durin’s strength is often 15+.

Wow, so she can add 11 burdens now. That makes her balanced.[/sarcasm]
You may wish to make to Ungoliant nearly unbeatable, but you have to think about gameplay. Who would want to play LOTR TCG anymore if Ungoliant can add 11 burdens whenever she feels like it? |

what is with the resistance? and two, i think it sould have a draw back in it.
say
Ungoliant - Mother of Darkness
Twilight Cost: 12
Strength: 22
Vitality: 12
Resistance: 4
Enduring. Damage +2.
Shadow: wound Ungoliant three times to add two burdens. (limit 1) discard ungolian
Regroup: wound Ungoliant four times to wound any companion twice.
here is my idea
(10) •Ungolian
most powerful spider
Minion spider
strength 20
vitality 10
site 8
Damage +3 fierce
while Ungolian is in play, discard all other minions.
Archery: while and a mountain or underground site, skip the archery phase.
Skirmish: discard Ungoldian to exhaust two companions.
Regroup: remove two threats and exert Ungolian twice to add three burdens. (limit 1) discard Ungolian.
what do you think? |

Definitely more balanced, but the regroup ability could get out of hand. Maybe if it was more like this:
[12] •Ungoliant, Mother of Darkness
Strength: 22
Vitality: 12
Site Number: 8
Enduring. Damage +2.
Regroup: Discard Ungoliant to add 2 burdens or wound any companion twice.
That way she’d be able to fight, and then she could do some neat stuff in the regroup phase. |
