i think the reasons the dwarves and elves fought each other is because, they took a necklass and forged a silmaril in it for an elven king, then they wanted it, and killed the elf king.
then some elves heard about it and killed the dwarves who were trying to get home, and took the silmaril back.
this made the dwarves mad, so they went back and attacked the elves. and were victorious, but didn’t get the silmaril.
not sure if that is the reason for their battle, but...
back to the question. it think it stinks that they fight each other.  |

| The Dwarves have always held a grudge against the Elves because the Elves have Eru’s blessings (were created by Eru) whereas the Dwarves were created by Aule the Smith. So the Elves have always thought themselves better than the Dwarves and the Dwarves have never taken kindly to this. |
