Hello Everybody!

Since there seem to be a fair number of Rules questions and people don’t know where to look on the Decipher site for the complete set of rules, I thought that I would post the links to all the relevant rules documentation so everyone can have easy access to it.

Currently there are three main documents that need to be referenced for rules. They are:

Comprehensive Rules Document 4.0
The Hunters Rule Book
Current Rulings Document - August 13, 2007

Although this document is a bit out of date, it does give directions for how to run a Lord of the Rings Tournament.
Lord of the Rings Tournament Guide -July 22, 2004
One of the rules updates specifically for tournament sanctioning that changed since the document above was created was the number of participants. According to this article, only 6 players are now needed to sanction a Lord of the Rings tournament.

Another rule that can’t be found in any of the documentation above is the Mulligan Rule that was designed to prevent a bad opening hand from being a game breaker. This rule states:

The Mulligan Rule.

There is a new tournament rule for Lord of the Rings. It will be in effect and it can make a huge impact on your games. Please know the new rule. It can be found in the latest version of the Tournament Guide.

Redrawing your hand

After all players have drawn their starting hands (before the first turn begins), each player (in player order) may shuffle his or her hand into his or her draw deck and draw 6 cards. The cards in the original hand are not revealed to anyone. This redraw may be for any reason. Each player may redraw only once per game. A player who passes on the opportunity to redraw may not change his mind.

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Cool. The new updates don’t seem to be highlighted in red like they used to be - do you know what the new additions are?

As Brad pointed out on the Decipher message boards, this update was a consolidation of the April and August CRDs so that the missing rulings were added. Since they weren’t new rulings, they weren’t highlighted in red.

*EDIT* All edits that were requested were made. The CRD is now completely updated. Decipher moved fast on this one!

Added Mulligan Rule since it isn’t in any of the rules documentation.

CRD Update - 7/19/07

•Grond, Forged with Black Steel [18R72]

Each time the fellowship moves in the regroup phase, you may discard this possession to search the Free Peoples player’s draw deck and remove up to 2 Free Peoples cards from the game.

Changed in:

Each time the fellowship moves in the regroup phase, you may discard this possession. If you do, you may search the Free Peoples player’s draw deck to choose up to 2 Free Peoples cards from there. Then remove those cards from the game.
