You see, since MtG games are so short, and since you don't cycle as fast, you never run 1 copy of anything, really. Duplicates are key.

Not quite, depending on the build, it's fairly common to see some one-ofs, although I'd recommend starting builds with 3-ofs and 4-ofs, mostly.
However, I ran a Mystical Teachings deck that had AT LEAST 5-6 one-ofs a while ago, and it did pretty well. Testing is the key to figure out quantities. But yeah, start with 3-ofs and 4-ofs.

Well...yeah, but that's Mystical Teachings. Tutor decks can afford to run one-ofs.

Even so, I ran a singleton Loxodon Warhammer in my Mannequin deck, and it worked wonders! Cheesy
But yeah, we ARE agreeing in one point? one-ofs should be the exception.
