Clearly, I haven't played Fellowship Block in a while. I have joined the league just to play for fun but find that most of my decks get slain.

Now, here are a few concerns of mine. I have no interest in playing a Gondor / Elven archery decks. Everyone seems to play a deck that starts Arwen, Daughter of Elrond and Legolas, Greenleaf and then uses Gondor Bowmen to decimate Shadows. That is both boring and unoriginal to me.

But the biggest issue is that every game, I seem to have two companions killed at site 2. I don't often play a lot...maybe 0 or 1 cost possessions or one 2 companion or something...and yet Ulaire Attea, Keeper of Dol Guldur or sometimes even a Cave Troll of Moria always seems to appear.

Certainly I can pack four Hobbit Stealth, but even so, the odds of getting two are low...how do you keep your guys alive past site 2? It is very frustrating to go into the first sanctuary with just one or two fellowship members.

Of course it doesn't help that every minion over strength 10 in Fellowship block is fierce, with the exception of the Sauron race...

well...
Buckleberry Ferry if you're playing hobbits

:Edit: Here's an idea, start frodo sam, SoH, merry and pippin, bid high to go first then play Hobbiton Woods which screws all the aragorn decks, plus you get to play Buckleberry Ferry and just skip site 2

A bit like seeing Enquea and Sam in every movie block deck... Wink

I agree! i prefer to find a different way of peeling burdens, such as elf-song to using sam and there are plenty of cards that punish the opponent of breaking the rule of 5, in my easterling deck for example i run new fear, kills big fellowships. there's also Greed, Southron Commander, Far Harad Mercenaries, Beyond Height Of Men, Hidden Even From Her, Morgul Squealer, A Host Avails Little, Gorgoth Swarm...

To me there is a difference between splash cards and a full deck.

Also, Easterling Pillager (I originally had Easterling Regiment).

You could always start Boromir, Lord of Gondor + a Hobbit (preferably Merry, Friend to Sam).  LoG is nice for allowing you to set up, though he won't necessarily help against a Cave Troll (unless you draw an Armor).  This is also a nice setup if you want to play by the book and make it so that Ring-bearer skirmishes can't be canceled -- by having a non-ring-bearer Hobbit in your starting Fellowship, you get a guy that can Stealth/Intuition.

And, for that matter, you could potentially play 4 Intuitions and 4 Stealths if you want to start with Friend to Sam.  Yeah, that's a heck of a lot of skirmish-canceling, but 1) it sounds like you could use it early on; and 2) after sites 4/5, Merry turns those hobbit pumps into ANYONE pumps.  An intuition on Merry followed by two exertions = +6 strength to whomever you want.

Also, if you're playing Elrond and happen to draw him before site 3, remember that he can fight at site 3!

But I think one of the most played comps is Aragorn HttWC...

If you don't want to play something too Gondor or Elven focused...

Hobbits with Boromir, SoD are good.
Three hunters with Gandalf,FotS are good.
Choke decks.

I also play a 65/65 dwarf deck using Realm of the Dwarrodelf which is quite nice.

Well, playing a Troll on site 2 is near impossible. In 20 games I did I managed to do that 2 times... it's 10% of the times, so it's very rare. Anyway, I found out that using Armor in a ranger works very well to avoid losing any characters. I'm just a bit sad to see in this game the same thing happening in magic. Top Decks. Top Decks everywhere. Either the same moria swarm or the same fp affinity deck.

To be honest, the decks Ket used against me were quite fun to play against. Exciting to be accurate. Those Uruks power was quite something... And in the other side, I saw Chompers Wraith deck, and it was a fresh breath too...

Both my shadow and FP decks are a mix between top decks and some of my ideas. I'm new to the game but for me there is nothing more compensating then winning a game using cards I thought that would be fun to play with!! Trolls, some Ancient Chiefs, a bunch of Aragorn and Boromir weapons to have some fun...

Anyway, I'd like to see people drafting a league. It's a very fun way to do a league and beside, it's a fresh start for this game since you won't caught any meta games or top decks. Draft pack, a few boosters, and ya ready to go ^^

I have played 10 games now with a 5-5 win record. I havent played those right at the top because they must be on at a different time to me.

I have mostly used Dwarves, but also a Tale deck based on the Greenleaf, Aragorn archery (which worked well).

For shadow I have used Mordor discard (terrible success), Mordor Trackers and direct wounding (highly successful) and Wraith Nazgul (some success).

I have lost to a range of decks and so far the only recurring theme I tend to see again and again is Moria archery or Moria swarm - fellowship decks are normally a mixed bag - if anything they all tend to remove shadow (Aragorn HTTWC, No Stranger to the Shadows, even Gimli DOTMR)
