What are the "splash" companions and the "splash" minions you like to use in your movie block decks? Which one do you think is the best? A "splash" card is a card that you like to put in most of your deck because it can help.

Here are the one I often use...

Sam, SoH (Best burden protection)
Radagast (Triple-moving can make you win)
Aragorn, RotN (Good swarm protection and can basically save your fellowship for one site)
Eowyn, LoR (Very nice if you have more than 6 companions and want Enquea protection)
Pippin, HoSI (Speed bump, can remove a burden or a wound which can be nice)
Faramir, SoD (Helps a lot vs some decks; Easterling and Enquea ToTo)

Ulaire Enquea, LoM (Anti-6 companions)
Grima, W (Helps any shadow to beat dwarves)
Bill Ferny (it's basically a strength +4 pump for any race or culture, very good vs alternate Ring-Bearer)

Some classic Splash minions:

-Desert Lord
-Gollum, Plotting Deceiver--If you are going for the initiative, he can be a near-free extra minion each turn!
-Goblin Runner--Twilight!
-Sauron, the Lord of the Rings or The Balrog, Terror of Flame and Shadow--Both nice beaters
-Siege Troop--In most site control decks
-Gollum, Dark as Darkness--Generates twilight and you can always use exertions or wounds (and soaking up archery!)
-Tower Assassin--A little more Meta specific, but great for disabling allies.
-Ulaire Cantea, Faster than Winds--Nice threat production

Those guys off the top of my head. I'm sure I will think of more, but obviously Wormtongue and Shotgun Enquea as well!

Here are some yet-unnamed companions:

-Smeagol, Poor Creature
-Legolas, Greenleaf (really? How'd you forget him!)
-Pippin, Wearer of Black and Silver
-Gandalf, Manager of Wizards--(Gandalf is a fantastic splash culture)

Of course:
-Elrond, Herald to Gil-Galad
-Thrarin, Dwarven Smith

I'm sure I'm missing some on this list as well!

I am not a nice linker but maybe Kettie you can link it for me:

Gandalf, Powerlauncher or Men (Elves, Dwarfs, Gollum and Hobbits that is)

Oh, without the link, that would be Leader of Men

I find Faster than Winds not really a splash, for his key combo he needs another wraith.

Well, I would say it is a decent threat adding minion. Of course you need other wraiths if you want to use the other part of the text.

But Ulaire Lemenya, ET is still better (even if not movie)

( Ulaire Cantea, Lieutenant of Dol Guldur )
Ulaire Nertea, Messenger of Dol Guldur  --> nice swarm!
Ulaire Toldea, Messenger of Morgul

Wraith is a nice Splash culture, too!

I never ever saw anyone spalsh cantea FTW for threat adding, as each culture that uses them have a better way. 5 pool is usually better spent.

Boromir, Son of Denethor - pumps Hobbits (Frodo)
Merry, Friend to Sam - pumps companions
Sam, Proper Poet - backup RB, can be chumped with defender +1.

Sam, Proper Poet can be very fun if you have a deck that uses Might of Numenor... taking on 3 minions for 3 twilight (pre Shadow phase) is hard to beat! Wink

Alternate RB are also good splash companions... I used Isildur many times just for the sake of having a strong RB.

Of course:
-Elrond, Herald to Gil-Galad
-Thrarin, Dwarven Smith

I guess I never got the "usefulness" of Thrarin.  Is he of any use beyond being able to take a big bad guy?

Elrond is insane though. Wink

What do you think about:

Dunlending Pillager
Dunlending Warrior
Morgul Skulker
Bill Ferny
Orc Inquisitor
Gorgoroth Servitor
Isengard Smith

And maybe:
Ulaire Toldea, Messenger of Morgul
Southron Commander
Aragorn, Heir of Elendil
Gandalf, The Grey Pilgrim

And allthough banned:
Aragorn, Heir to the White City

And any Haldir as he should be splashed just out of principle!

PS to KTJ: Just one kg this week. Course is great! How are you doing?
