I feel like any deck that utilizes burdens could use a copy of Gollum, Stinker

well that's kind of like saying you don't see the point of Aragorn, RotN, besides being able to save your fellowship

I guess I never got the "usefulness" of Thrarin. Is he of any use beyond being able to take a big bad guy? Elrond is insane though. What do you think about the combo Thrarin, bracers, axe, Ring of Retribution, Endurance of Dwarves and Elrond, HTG?! Also very nice in shoulder to shoulder, allthough that deck has been nuked by banning Elrond, Lord of Rivendell.... grr (IMO that card should get an usefull errata so he and shoulder to shaoulder could be played again)

Throw him in front of a Balrog or a Castamir and you are good to go. Smeagollum, I am probably only down four pounds since we started this. But the last two weekends have been binge drinking events, so I need to get serious again! Like I said before...I want to get down to vain-skinny...can't do that if you are polishing off bottles. -wtk

Gandalf, Leader of Men is probably one of the most widely used splash companions. He's great for starting. Decipher had an article devoted to him I believe. Perhaps it's somewhere in here: http://decipher.ruddog.com/ (scroll down and click the LotR folder).

I like putting Derufin in decks. He can bail you out against besiegers.

It depends a little bit, but if you play innitiative or raider: Desert runner and desert sneak.

Playing initiative or raider is far from behind 'splash'. Why would you put these in a raider deck that doesn't work with initiative anyway? Cheap and ambush maybe...

I don't really consider them splash, though. On the other hand, Goblin Runner, Bill Ferny, and Goblin Man are largely universal in their abilities which makes them more "splash-able." -wtk
