This is obviously a joke, but I would like to suggest that King Block is the least fun block in LotR TCG. I will be honest that I have very limited experience with the blocks past set 10; however, I would rather play War of the Ring block until I die than RotK block.

This is obviously a joke

That is all. Just trying to get some opinions from other people who have actually played the block. Everyone whom I have played against has agreed that the block is shallow and lacks solid free peoples options. The game is more about stalling and surviving than taking the bull by the #$&*@! and winning.

And, seeing as this is the first post on this board in a month, I'm glad I could get some spirited debate going.

It's all about setting up the Shadow kill at site 5, at least in my experience.  I still enjoy it though.

My biggest problem is that there are only three viable Free Peoples options:
Gondor
Rohan
Shadowplay/Unheeded wounding with Preparations/Slaked Thirsts

Elven is essentially useless without Elven Bow (first block to not have it!) and the power surge between sets 7 and 8 make most Shadow cards from set 7 better support options than full decks.

Cirdan decks are pretty good.

Well, I don't really like many of the Elven events in King Block. Most of them have stipulations to play, or some, like Still Needed, are much better when not in the discard pile.

Anyways, I find Cirdan to be one of the least entertaining cards to play.

Cirdan. Wink

I enjoy the War block, but I prefer Fellowship and Tower of course. I haven't played enough Hunters block to have too much of an opinion there.  I am seriously lacking in the RoS & T&D rare department.

War of the Ring blows

The best I can figure is that War of the Ring doesn't have the power cards that other blocks seem to have. But most of King Block's power cards come from sets 8 and 10, which, as I've noted before, I think the week that sets 8 and 9 were released marked the beginning of the end of this game. (I mean that from Decipher's standpoint, not the players' standpoint).

It contains some powerful Shadow combinations, but lame lame lame FP ideas.

Oh, okay. See, I had looked at the Free Peoples cards more than the Shadow; the biggest thing I noticed was the lack of simple skirmish events. Something like:

Event • Skirmish
Make a companion of this culture strength +2 (or strength +4 if you meet some other condition).

A lot of the skirmish events in WotR block seemed to read more like:
Event • Skirmish
Make a companion strength +X where X is that companion's resistance minus the number of wounds on that companion.

Yeah, not a real card, but you get the point. I am a big fan of "the simpler, the better" and War of the Ring did not seem to have simple options.

By the way, imagine the implications of having Cirdan, the Shipwright and whomever else out as your companions....then using Beneath the Mountains or Realm of Dwarrowdelf to discard your entire deck! Oh, nothing, I just count 500 Elven events in my discard pile.

RotK block doesn't look like an interesting block but this is not a good reason to remove this forum section... it has to stay because this is a format that exist.

I mean... we have Poorman's and Austrian Format subforums...
