Agreed, as bad as this format may be, it's nothing compared to Austrian.

I appreciate the feedback, but the point of this thread wasn't to close the boards. I thought having the first sentence of the post as "I'm obviously kidding" would give that away, but apparently it did not.

The real point was for me to suggest that King Block is the least fun block in the game and to generate discussion about strategies that would make it more successful/fun.

BTW if you look at the threads here, someone posted a decent looking deck using threats with Gorn Merry and Pippin. It's another possible fellowship to use.

Too many variables and far too easy to beat in King Block.

And I never really meant to imply that there are no other free peoples than what was mentioned, but that would be like saying that I built an awesome Lorien Elf deck in Fellowship.

I read your first line as "This (sub-board) is obviously a joke." Language can be unclear.

This is obviously a joke, but...

If there weren't so many non-native English speakers on this site, I would hardly buy nomenclature misunderstanding.

Much better. In that case, forget my earlier post.

RotK block is boring. Those few tricks you can profit from with the freeps are neglected by the shadow. The game is all about surviving long enough till you get to kill your opponent. Austrian Lurtzy is really fun, and way more balanced than you might think. I know certain people are not convincved about the format and what you can play, but man I like it. Well nuff said.

So RotK is a decent block if you play without the expansions?  I get the impression it's hindered by SoG and Mount Doom..  Does RotK play better by itself or using all the sets leading up to it?  I'm just now getting cards from the set and am kinda disappointed with the lack of minion factions (I liked Moria, Isengard, and Dunland..).  It's basically just Raiders, Sauron, and Wraiths.

Raiders, Sauron, and Wraiths.

That's kind of like the Two Towers set where there were just Dunland, Uruk-Hai, and Raiders.

Personally, I'd just avoid King block on it's own altogether.
