If you want to play but don't have any cards anymore you are welcome to borrow a deck from one of the many that will be there. Won't be going, but this event has my FULL SUPPORT. Now, that gives me incentive to get back on the PC.

This will be a great event even if all the players playing are all SW players that are there for SW Worlds. I know that we will have about 6 or so that have said that they want to play for sure.
I would love it though if we got more LOTR players there just to play LOTRs.

Whoa! I say not Friday because there's no way I am taking off work to play cards.
I understand not wanting the Rings times to compete with the Star Wars times... -wtk

If you don't have it on Friday you will lose the 8-10 SW players who are planning on playing.

I'm just saying Friday because I'll have family in town and I have better things to do than play cards. I won't be playing SWCCG this year. I just don't have time to keep up on games anymore.

Compromise will have to be made to make this work ....
ST Nationals in Australia each year is a four day event .... Thursday to Sunday.
The events on Thursday and Friday are in the evening to attempt to accomodate those that work but also recognise that players have travelled interstate to attend and have no work commitments. The less popular events are held at the beginning (and in this case I think that is where LOTR would go given this appears to be an event for Star Wars).
Those that work might be able to attend by taking half a day off, or simply arriving after work. Just my 2 cents.

Basically we would have to have the main event either on Friday evening or Sunday.
We will likely do a sealed event on Thursday/Friday/Sunday or a combination of them if people want to do so.
Saturday is basically out since all the SW players will be playing then. I'm also guessing that Sunday will be tough.
Friday is the best day for it over this weekend. Hopefully that doesn't drive too many people away but having it Friday will give us the best turnout of already participating players.

Ah man I was really close to being able to go... I am in Boston on those dates and I wish I could go but the times conflict with another CCGs Nationals. A few people who play Redemption (the other CCG) play LOTR, so I can get a few games in at least .

I'm not going to take off a day of work to play the game if it is on a Friday. If it was on a Saturday, I would be much more inclined.
I'll check on a few updates between now and a little closer to that time, but if I were to drive up to Philly, I would want to hang out with my old college roommate and go to Grace Tavern or a Phillies game. -wtk

Sorry about having it on Friday. Unfortunately that is the best time in terms of conflicts with Star Wars events (and it is Star Wars worlds weekend after all).

Its great that this event is being held but LOTR deserves better than being a support event. This is why a PC should be pursued (SW and ST both have world events and have a PC). Deicipher do not have to endorse the PC, it just limits what we can do which based on some opinion on this website should please some people.

P. S. If I come it will be with my little bro, he's 13 if there's an age limit

LOTR deserves better than being a support event.
Sorry I can't help but laugh. This is an event that LOTR players weren't even willing to create or host, the SW players had to do it! They can fit it into their schedule on Friday so they can play it. I think that its better than it deserves. Overall, we really have no right to complain. They were nice enough to invite us. If we can't make it, we can't make it. I wish I could make it but I have family in town and just can't quite make it to Philly that day. I'm bummed but such is life.

Got to agree with Jerba on this one. Every time I see Steve posting about a potential event only for the inevitable, "Hmm...no responses" post, I laugh a bit.
And no, I don't care how you think a Player's Committee would change all this because it wouldn't. -wtk

Yes please do come. I'll try to do a sealed deck event on Saturday sometime too. Hopefully.
If you need decks for the event we have lots of extras there for people to use on Friday.

@ Cat1Games - If you get a chance, could you ask the LotR folks there if they collect the promos? I've got the Online League promos 0P62-0P67 and the hard-to-find dAgent promos 0P123-126 and 128-129 available for sale. Thanks!

Brian Fred is well on his way to winning LOTR Worlds with a mixed Fellowship + Elf Allies / Dunland deck that he hadn't touched in several years. It turned out to be Movie Block legal. I remember playing against that Dunland deck. They are sick in Movie Block.

Brian Fred's deck was actually the a standard Man/Elf free peoples with Southron Archery. This isn't exact, but it was something like this: Frodo, Tired TravellerRing (I forget which one) Legolas, GreenleafGlorfindel, Revealed in WrathAragorn, Ranger of the North x4 Faramir, Son of Denethor x2 Boromir, Son of DenethorDerufinArwen, Fair Elf MaidenSam, Great Elf Warrior (he would have played Son of Hamfast but didn't realized he wasn't x-ed) The Last Alliance of Elves and Men x3 Anduril, Flame of the West x2 AiglosThe Tale of Gil-galadArmorShadow BetweenElrond, Herald to Gil-galad x3 VilyaSecret Sentinels x2 Sting, Bane of the Eight LegsThe Tale of the Great RingCitadel of the StarsStone TowerNoble LeadersThere and Back AgainDesert Lord x4 Elite Archer x4 Southron Bowman x4 Southron Marksmen x3 Haradrim Marksman x3 Seasoned Leader x4 War Towers x4 Rallying Call x2 Ithilien WildernessWhirling Strike x2 Ships of Great Draught x2 The free peoples is exact (it's the same one that he ran at worlds in 2004 and is one of the best (if not the best) in movie block). The shadow may be off a few cards because I didn't note the exact number of each card he played, but it's pretty standard Southron Archery.

I went to the worlds, the only thing that surprised me was that so many people were running 6 or more companions, and I was the only one with shotgun enquea, I must have killed a companion virtually every time I played him.

so why did you loose? shotgun enquea taking off the main comp every time... but why, why if you played your Rank and File deck, didin't you play Greed instead? As I told you, this card can do lots of more damage than enquea and works just great with Uruks! But if you palyed with another Deck, nevermind.

Well I put the single copy of greed I have in it, but in 3/4 games I drew both enqueas first, also my freeps was pretty weak, cycling Rohan with gandy splash, I did go 2-2 both wins were shadow kills, I should've won a third game, but the guy survived Uruk swarms at sites 4, 6 and 9 and I misplayed the swarm at six where I could've killed him, I thought he had PATHS so I killed two companions with rank and file but turns out he didn't so he had 4 companions (including aragorn, rotn) at site 9

Yeah, Rohandalf is a pretty weak Deck. You should have played your Elves. They also cycle well, but are more powerful.

Here's the deck I played at the event. I placed 2nd beating Olaf Schroeder in the first game, Ryan Freeman in the 2nd, and James Barnes in the 3rd before losing to BFred in the last game. The FP side is what I used to play way-back-when and the Shadow was a list that James Barnes built that he found on DeckTech (I was borrowing his cards, major props). I had to make some last minute changes at the event cause I thought Stables was a King Block site 1 and that I could always pull a horse because of that (not touching this game in 4 years will make you think weird things). I would've played 4 horses and only 1 Defiance if I'd known that. Frodo, Resolute HobbitThe One Ring, Answer to All RiddlesLegolas, GreenleafEowyn, Lady of IthilienEowyn's Sword, Dernhelm's BladeBrego x2 Aragorn, Elessar Telcontar x2 Aragorn's Bow x2 Ranger's SwordElven Bow x4 Gil-Galad, High Elven King Glorfindel, Revealed in WrathArwen, Queen of Elves and MenAsfaloth, Elven SteedThe Tale of Gil-GaladThe Saga of ElendilElrond, Herald to Gil-Galad x2 VilyaKnife of the Gladhrim AiglosDouble Shot x4 Gwemgil Defiance x3 4 Enquea, TotO4 Nelya, TotO4 Cantea, TotO1 Toldea, MoDG1 Attea, WoW2 Out of Sight and Shot4 Bent on Discovery4 Gates of the Dead City4 Between Nazgul and Prey4 All Blades Perish1 Ithil StoneI really don't remember too many game details but against Ryan I corrupted his (I think) Isilduer the turn that time was going to be called. I went first against Barnes and there wasn't a single stop for either of us the entire game. I finished the game with nothing in the dead pile and maybe 3 total wounds across my fellowship. The game lasted about 10 minutes since neither of us really played minions. Against BFred his threats and archery killed me off on site 6 or 7. I had managed to kill his Greenleaf but he had too many companions out that he would've won anyway.
