Hi, I've got boxes and boxes of trading cards here which my wife played. Unfortunately I have no idea what's in there and I need to know what to look for. There's lots of foil cards and things in shiny packets. There's also some strange ones written in elvish and plenty of "one rings" including one which looks like 1R1 isildurs bane, but in elvish.

I don't know where to start in sorting this lot out! Can anyone help?

They're no use to me so everything's up for sale!

Thanks, Paul.

You need to list rares and foils for us to give you an accurate value.

There must be hundreds in here that have a little shiny "Pro" symbol on the corner - what do they represent?

Thanks Lurtz, how do I identify them, are there codes on them?

Don't know what you mean by this, could you give more information?

Bottom right corner. The ring you mentioned above, says 1R1. The first 1 is for the set, R means rare (U means uncommon, C means common, S means Starter, P means Premium...) and the last number is the number of that card in the set.

Excellent that gives me a good start. This one definitely is a 1R1, but is that no use because it's in elvish? Thanks Lurtz.

As for the pro cards, I have 3 here which have a small silver hologram type icon in the corner that says "Ultra.Pro" - these 3 are 5U120 9R25 and 5U118

The shiny "Pro" symbol likely means they are in Ultra-Pro sleeves. The sleeves themselves are mostly worthless after being used.

As for identifying the cards, the bottom right side of the card has a card number. It looks like this:

X R XXX.

The first "X" represents the set number. Where I inserted "R," you might also see C, U, P, S, or O. The third set of "XXX" represents the card number in the set.

R = Rare
U = Uncommon
C = Common
P = Promo or Premium
S = Starter Deck Only

Less commonly, you may see:
O = Masterworks
R+ = Rare Plus (Set 9 only)
RF = Rare Foil (later sets only)

If you just list the "R" cards, O cards, R+ cards, and RF cards. And I guess list any P cards as well.

Any card which has the image "foiled" should be listed regardless of rarity. Please denote on your list that the cards is a foil.

That should be able to give a good estimate.

No problem. For what it is worth, I think Ultra Pro sleeves are the best sleeves for trading card gamers to use.

Also, compare 9R25 with a non-foiled card to get an idea of what I mean when I say list any foils.

That's tengwar. And yes, they are worth a bit less than the normal version.

But hey, since I've been such a fantastic help, send me a private message with any foils you have before you post them here. I'll overpay for them if they are cards that I need!

Once I get the pick of the litter, you can post it up here.*

*To send a private message, click on the green (or white) box under where it says "give gold." The box will be green if the user is online and white if the user is offline. It will automatically address the Private Message to me and then just send that list. I'll get back to you on that if there are any that I'm looking for!

PM me first! Wink  Tongue LOL! Neutral Angry Cry

I hate to disagree with you, but Dragon Shield are slightly better than Ultra Pro. Much more expensive...

Just my two cents.

Don't bother listing all the P's, only the ones that have this: 0P***, the 0 and P being the important part, and some numbers after. That means they are promos rather than premiums, and are worth much more.

It takes us far less time to type $.25 after a starter deck premium than it does for him to take 18 different cards out of his list and collection.
