traditionally, son of hamfast has seen more game time than samwise the brave.  Why?  Well, there are some obvious reasons, exert to remove a burden for 1.  But what about samwise's text?  exert to cancel the placement of X number of burdens! That is pretty cool.  say goodnight to all those pesky nazgul 2-3 burden cards.  There are some conditions that have to be met though.  Samwise must be in play to maximize his text, son of hamfast can be played, exerted, then killed, instant burden removal.  What do you think?  Who is the better sam?  I didn't make this a pole because I want reasons more than numbers

wow. nice comparison. both sam's are indeed useful. gold for u!

anyways, i think son of hamfast sees more daylight because he is generally better as a splash card. remove burdens, then have him killed. unlike the case with samwise wherein you have to keep him alive(maybe even ready to fight just in case) for him to be effective.

I think "seeing more game time" is hugely dependent on which is the better splash card as well.

I'd like to see comparison between gimli, son of gloin and gimli, skilled defender. I noticed no one uses skilled defender as opposed to son of gloin(well, now no one uses son of gloin as well due to gimli, FA and gimli, ring bearer).

Son of Hamfast can remove burdens without Frodo in the deck.

Frodo must be present for Samwise The Brave to be effective.

Plus Son of Hamfast can be used with hobbit burden manipulation decks.

Son of Hamfast removes burdens the Free Peoples player adds whereas Samwise the Brave does not. Son of Hamfast has more utility value as you cannot guarantee your opponent will be trying to corrupt you. More often that not shadow decks do not.

I prefer SoH as he can remove burdens that you add not just those added by enemy minions.  Also most cards only add 1 burden which can be removed in much the same way.  Stacked with Weapon of Heritage SoH can remove a ton of burdens that the other can't.

Yeah, the last thing most (non-hobbit) decks need is another 3 strength companion sitting there the whole game who can't really fight. The best part of Son of Hamfast is that you can drop him, remove 3 burdens and then feed him to a nazgul.

Not bad for 2 (including the move the next site) twilight.
