I've just come to realize the former exists and he seems to be really nice.  What's your opinion on which is better?
Eomer, Third Marshal of Riddermark and Eomer, Rohirrim Captain.

Maybe you'll find out by testing each of them in a couple of games to see which one works better. Jus' sayin'.

PD: Did I just see a New Phyrexia ad before logging in?

tmor is ridiculously strong. i almost exclusively use him for his ability to contend with the big nasty minions.

I agree that he is ridiculously strong and is a major tank but the advantage I see with the other is being able tp use his effect on other comps.

I think that the TMoR is better in 90% of the decks, and in the other 10% Rohirrim Captain is better, because he is a) a valiant, b) he has the Gandalf signet (TMAYOD), c) you are abusing initiative (though probably he is not your best choice for that purpose).

TMoR hands down. I think its even more like 95%. THe continous discard of cards gives a huge strain on your deck.

Rohirrim Captain was never played. No, really, I never saw anybody playing it. TMOR simply runs it over any day, unless u are doing some crazy deck I can't even imagine.

I would only compare Eomer 3rd Marshal to Horsemaster and to Heir to Meduseld:

3rd Marshal: almost always a base strength 9, but needs a horse... with a couple spears and javelins, could be consistently 11... important, tho, is he's usually 7 against dunland and a few orcs, and almost never bigger than 9 against orcs again.

Heir to Meduseld: potentially 14 base strength, at least 10 if you keep the rule of 6. This guy is awesome, tho most people don't really play him, guess he's just not popular.

Horsemaster: almost always 9, potential to become 11 easily, 15 if you really need it, but tricky thing is Rohan is always filled with possessions, and you'll hardly have many Rohan cards in hand by the skirmish phase.

That's just my 2 cents, being an Eomer fan  Thumbs Up

And certainly Eored Captain! Sure he doesn't cost 2 in starting fellowship, but Valiant can be pretty awesome sometimes.

Eored Captain is awesome. Fits into my multiculture wounding deck, so he can survive any minions I can't wound to death

You can also still start Eored Captain with Theodred, Second Marshal of the Mark.
