No to possessions/artifacts/conditions, yes to events.

Two relevant quotations from the comp. rules:

"You may use (and exert) another player's
character to pay a cost for your Shadow card or
special ability."

and

"A Shadow player cannot play a Shadow artifact,
condition, or possession on another Shadow
player's minion, or to another player's support
area. However, Shadow cards may give bonuses
or other game effects to other players' Shadow
cards, and Shadow players may play events for
other players' Shadow cards as appropriate."

It depends. I know that when my playgroup and I do a 2v2 game (house rules, since there no official rules for 2v2, 3v3 etc) we can play possesions on your teammates minions, but cannot activate their special abilities, due to cards such as They Stole It
