The text of the Witch King: Each Man Skirmishing the minion loses all strength bonuses from weapons.

Does this include strength gained from a weapon's text, as in the case of flaming brand (or ithilian blade as another example should he be roaming)

I don't have a rulebook quotation on this, but I will say that yes, the gametext strength boost of a weapon is still from that weapon, so it would not apply in the situation described.

Air Power is right.

But why would you use Black Captain anyway?

Fixed that for you. I guess it's just an opinion thing, but even in an Enduring Nazgul deck I'd prefer the Witch-King, Morgul King or even the Witch-King, Lord of the Nazgul.

I don't know why my cousin uses him. He only ever causes 1-2 wounds, and even my men can typically get to a 10-12 if they have to without weapons.

Flaming Brand isn't legal in Movie Block.  The best way to tick off a friend with a love for Witch-Kings might be with Don't Look at Them.  My buddy quit the game because of that card.

Sorry, Arcanite mentioned Movie Block.  I play against Black Captain often.  My exclusively Gondor decks use Noble Leaders, Dervorin, and/or Fortifications to deal with the punk.  I really like Hrethel against Enduring minions, but you can't really splash him.
