Is the database down?
« on: February 17, 2012, 02:10:48 AM »
Every time I try to look at a particular card in the database, it says Access Denied. Any clue why this is happening?
All cards do what they say, no more, no less.

I have same problem.

Me too.
Someone know where could find some another Lotr TCG database?

One other option is to install LackeyCCG on your computer.  The "lotr" plugin has a searchable database.  If you need help, just send me a PM.

Well, all of the images for Gemp-LOTR are still working, so I can easily find a card on there. It's just irritating seeing an autolink for a card on the boards here and I can't click on it to see what card we're talking about.
All cards do what they say, no more, no less.

What's funny is that I can still mouseover the links to view them (example: http://lotrtcgwiki.com/images/LOTR01286.jpg, bounder, brand, boromir lord of gondor); it appears that the *.jpg's in the /images folder are still accessible, but the *.html's in the /pages folder are not.  Mayhaps it's an easy fix, just no one's gotten around to it.

haha ^^

Something wrong with connect between database and images in html code?

http://lotrtcgwiki.com/forums/index.php?action=profile;u=1
unfortunately not :/

ALRIGHT, well, since we don't know if/when any of the admins will be back to fix this, but the images still appear accessible, here's how to set up a local copy on your own computer.

STEP 1: get the local *.html files.  The ones on the server are the ones telling us access denied, but Kralik posted a *.zip folder containing all of the *.html files here: http://lotrtcgwiki.com/files/LotRHTML.zip (I have also rehosted this file on my dropbox) .  Download this and extract it to a folder somewhere, name it LOTR-TCG-DB or something like that.

STEP 2a: I've written a small python script to download all of the image files.  Download this zip file and extract it anywhere.  If you have python installed (you can get it here) you can simply run the imgdownload.py script and it will automatically begin downloading the images one at a time to the /images folder.   If you're on windows, I've also included a standalone *.exe in the /windows folder.  Both the script and the *.exe have only been tested on windows 7 64bit[edit: and has been confirmed to not work with 32-bit windows], but the script should work on any OS.

You can cancel the process on windows by pressing ctrl+c.  If you need to restart the download process, be advised that it will start over from the beginning...but you can always edit the imagefiles.txt and remove the files that you've already downloaded.

STEP 2b: If you do not trust the program above (I get it, but you can always just open the .py file and verify the script yourself [shrugs]) I have also thrown together an *.html file that has nothing but all the images in it.  Go here and use a plugin such as DownThemAll to get each image, or alternatively go to file-save as and save an "html complete"; this will save a file named lotr-tcg-images.html and a folder named lotr-tcg-images_files that will have all your images in it (once it's done downloading, of course).

STEP 3: once you have done one or the other of the above, copy the images to your LOTR-TCG-DB folder you made in step one.  You should now have a folder that looks like this:

LOTR-TCG-DB
|
|-images
|-|-all the images...
|-pages
|-|
|-sets
|-|
|-index.html

et voila!  open the index.html and go nuts.  Be advised that the search field doesn't work on the local copy, and also if you click the index link in the upper-left hand corner it will in fact take you to the real lotrtcgwiki.com website.  I've been using the search option on the website to find the card I want, then going to my local copy and finding it manually there.

hope this helps.

all the images are saved in a monolithic folder, exactly the same way they are done on lotrtcgwiki.com.  The *.hmtl's are saved in their own set folders, but the images should all be thrown together (and that's the way both methods I went over will do it).

Not that I'm aware of.  As some people have pointed out, Gemp-LotR has a database within it.  Can't speak to its usability on mobile platforms (it seems pretty mediocre on the pc, at least).  http://www.gempukku.com/gemp-lotr/deckBuild.html

Hi! :)

I went through step one and two. When trying to run the program in the windows folder, I got a message that it was not compatible with the windows version I have. I have Windows 32-bit. So maybe it is just working on 64-bit?

That's quite likely.  I hadn't tested it on 32-bit; that's unfortunate.  2b should work universally, though.  I'll edit the post.

I noticed that in the file provided by TelTura for step 2B (manually getting the images) that the 0D, Tengwars, and some other miscellaneous images were missing. The attached file should get the remaining images by following the same process - Don't forget to put the files into the <images> folder.

Thanks, jcbutter.  My file was made from a script that crawled my own local database for filenames; I had forgotten that I removed all the cards I didn't care for (those LOTR-O cards in particular, I forgot how stupidly OP they were).  I've updated my original file to include your submission.  Thanks again.

This might help.
I've DLed all the cards (ty for the scrypt) and the html files and posted them on my own server.

http://lotr.fatfree.net/

Maybe some admin wants to make a new sticky post?

Update1:  Site is now a subdomain of fatfree.net (ty).  It could have been lotr.decipherindia.com, but I thought that was a bad idea ; )
Update2: New search engine installed (and it was a pain to write a script to change 1000+ html files to use it).

Where's a panic button when you need one? I gave my email to a few people and told them to drop me a note if there were any issues, but no word. Just lots of members STILL replying to the no-reply PM messages. :P

I have been checking on the site from time to time (though not logged in) and made sure that GCCG was still running. You may have noticed "God" speaking in GCCG or the SOPA blackout as indications that "someone" was still around. But in this particular case, I did a PHP upgrade to address some security issues and somehow it broke some of the include code in the card pages. Unfortunately, I didn't catch it, because after I did the upgrade I only checked the main page, the forums, and some other websites on the same server, and concluded "all is well."

So, for the moment, I've restored the previous LotRHTML.zip (a bit outdated) while I figure out where the problem lies. I'll be posting in announcements later to see what other issues need to be addressed.

Thanks to those of you who made efforts to provide local download help and/or mirrors!

EDIT: Fully fixed now.
