For years I've been struggeling to bring a Last Alliance Deck to the table. A deck that includes Anarion, Isildur, Elendil, Gil-Galad, Elrond and maybe Galadriel and Glorfindel. But what ever attempt I made, I never seem to have it right. The main problem was the starting fellowship. I could run either Isildur and Anarion, or Galadriel and Glorfindel. A 2 person starting isn't my cup of tea, especially given the fact that certain characters have spotting requirements and so to set up the whole deal was somewhat of a dillema. I wanted to include nice cards as The Last Alliance of Elves and Men, Aiglos and Narsil, but I never came to it. 2 weeks ago I was picking up the challenge once again and there it was: Isildur, Sword Bearer. Isildur is perfect because he can be in my starting fellowship along with Galadriel and Glorfindel. That alone was already great. But now I've worked around the spotting requirement of Elrond and Gil-Galad, so 3 of the 4 remaining companions could be played immediately! This is what I came up with:

*The One Ring, The Ring of Rings (11R1)
*Galadriel, Bearer of Wisdom (RB)(9R+14)

Fellowship (35)
1x *Aiglos (9R+12)
1x *Galadriel's Silver Ewer (18R11)
1x *Narsil, Forged by Telchar (17R31)
1x *Vilya (3R27)
2x *Anarion, Lord of Anorien (0P58)
2x *Elendil, The Tall (9R+32)
2x *Elrond , Elven Lord (7R21)
2x *Gil-Galad, Elven High King (9R+15)
1x *Glorfindel, Revealed in Wrath (9R+16)
1x *Isildur, Sword-Bearer (18R54)
1x *King's Legacy (13U72)
2x Spirit of the White Tree (17U34)
3x The Last Alliance of Elves and Men (1R49)
3x Banners Blowing (13U61)
1x *Celebring, Elven-Smith (18R7)
1x *Woodhall Elf (18C17)
1x *Hadafang (12R18)
1x *Phial Of Galadriel (3U24)
2x Armor (1C92)
2x Elven Armaments (18U8)
2x Ithilien Blade (15C62)
2x Ranger's Cloak (15C68)

Shadow (35)
2x *Ithil Stone (9R+47)
1x *Thin and Stretched (1R279)
3x Desperate Defense of the Ring (1R244)
1x Verily I Come (2R94)
1x Forces of Mordor (1C248)
2x The Ring is Mine!(10U97)
3x There Came a Cry (7C208)
4x *Grishnakh, Orc Captain (5R100)
2x *Orc Insurgent (6U104)
3x *Sauron, The Lord of the Rings (9R+48)
4x *Ulaire Lemenya, Eternally Threatening (15R185)
3x Gorgoroth Stormer (8C101)
2x Mordor Fighter (7R286)
4x Orc Runner (5C109)

The shadow is mainly to draw cards with Grishnakh, Orc Captain, Orc Runner and Ithil Stone. Add some threats with Lemenya and There Came a Cry, add some burdens with Thin and Stretched, Desperate Defense of the Ring and maybe The Ring is Mine to play eventually Sauron who is ofcourse the main mean character when it comes to a Last Alliance deck. The fellowship can be huge, they are all potentially strong. It can heal a lot with Isildur, remove some conditions and possesions and it can withstand a punch. Oh, and it can run. Galadriel can have up to 13 burdens when all is out so that is nice. The problem is that with her Phial, she can't wear Armaments, but Celebring can help her when needed. I love to play with it, it has done much good since I designed it. It can win you games, but you can bite the dust in an instant.....

I remember making some wicked The Last Alliance of Elves and Men archery decks in Fellowship block... the cards I needed to do it were expensive!

Do you really need 13 resistance? Why not drop the Phial, since you already have Galadriel's Silver Ewer, and pack 1 more Elven Armaments?

another Elven Armaments could be useful, but only Glorfindel and Galadriel would need one. It can't go on Gil-Galad or on Elrond, so maybe I need an other card instead of the Phial. However a friend of mine played a nasty, easy to break if you have the cards for it, corruptiondeck and he came to 12 burdens  Shocked

That's a freakin sweet theme... gonna have to tear a couple decks apart myself to try something like that.   Grin

yeah the xtra Armaments would be nice, but since this is expanded 12 burdens can definitely happen.  Gotta protect the  The One Ring!

Good point... loss of resistance by losing companions could also bite.

Nifty. I've been trying to get such a deck running for some time, and I think I can definately take a page or two from your build. Good stuff.

One suggestion to consider: as a ranger, you can start Glorfindel, Eldarin Lord with a well-timed Prancing Pony and free up starting fellowship space for someone else. I haven't been able to make that work QUITE right without wreaking the theme a little with, say, Arwen or Aragorn or someone else that KIND of makes sense, but it's a thought.

The only downside I see to this is that it doesn't make use of Anarion's ability, which is a small crime, but I understand it's just the theme that counts here. And in that regard...you get a heartly slap on the back and some gold from yours truly. Grin Bravo!

great words from a great person  Wink...yeah it is such a shame doing nothing with his ability. Maybe another themedeck with the faithful ones. Isildur, Elendil and Anarion. I wonder whether they could be in 1 deck. A lot of defender+ sheiss and healing. Is there maneuver healing, does anyone know that from heart? Because that particular card from Realms that makes you exert a character to make it str. +3 and defender +1 is very awesome, but we need vitality for Anarion. I included banner blowing for that purpose, it can come back, but on the flip-side, there are not many  [Gondor]cards to remove from the game to make it come back.....

Nice deck! But why not have 4 copies of Last Alliance? Some could get discarded. :S

I see. What about a less thematic deck with fewer companions? One that would be ultra competitive. Any ideas? I guess to counter corruption decks you could add some Elf-Song here. Smiley
