A new "ticket" system proposal
« on: April 03, 2013, 03:56:27 PM »
Hello guys, since its something it will take some more time to be worked on, this is probably not a subject for the other topic. I am proposing a new system that will work in parallel with the current, resolving many of the current issues on gemp. What it is about is : having tickets in addition to the gold. The merchant can stay the way it is right now(I believe its working just fine, besides the exploits), but the gold will not be such an exploitable resource. What are the changes in this system:

- New accounts start with 0 gold. Instead they can have 3-4 precons of player's choice and some amount of booster packs. Maybe even receiving those cards after some amount of casual/tournament all card tournaments. They will have a several tournament tickets in addition to the cards, which they can receive asap as the account is registered.

- Each Monday the players will get 5-6 tournament tickets and several booster packs ( for example 5)

- Each all card tournament will require 1 tournament ticket to enter, instead of the current gold tax.

- Each league will require either 6 or 9 tournament tickets to be joined (depends on the type, currently they are either 35 or 50 gold).

- All tournament types will have some tickets involved in the prize pool!

- The merchant will be selling tickets for 6 gold each for people who want to participate in more tournaments, this is a static price, and the merchant WILL NOT be buying any tickets.

- There will be gold involved as well as packs in the tournament prize pool!

What will be solved doing this:

- Newer players will gain some experience before jumping into making collections. They still can start directly with my cards, if they want to.

- Multi-accounts will be near useless.

- The prices of the singles will be a lot harder to be influenced by just a single person, even with multiple accounts.

- All card tournaments will see a lot more play and interest.

I'm looking into hearing your opinion on this system and why do you think it's not good and what the weak points are! Thank you for your attention!

i would love to see some alternate to the current "gold tax" on playing leagues. this sounds like a great idea.

Well put a poll for people to vote. I like this idea. Like someone said in the other thread, i think that the ability to buy boosters AND singles is one of the best in the site, and dont wanna see the option removed.

Vote for what, I prefer to hear comments and suggestions. After all its up to MarcinS to decide, I didn't had any negative feedback on my idea yet..

I'm with Grond on this. Having to choose between buying new cards or buying into a tournament/league is contradicting each other imo. I can play in a tournament but may not get anything, or I can have new cards and not be able to play them were they matter: a tournament.

I'd lower the price of the tickets to 5 and give out a ticket for a certain number of casual games played, say 15 or 20, outcome irrelevantof course. A Sealed league could cost 10 tickets, All Cards tournaments 7, and My Cards tournaments 4. The My Cards tournaments should always cost less than All Cards, as we spent time and gold to get those cards. With All Cards, we did not. that can be more expensive than My Cards.

This way (with the tickets), the casual gaming would surely prosper and give new players experience (as mentioned before).

I like the ticket idea, especially if the same tickets are used for both tournaments and for leagues. Personally, I would prefer that tickets are somewhat more scarce than is suggested above by both reducing the number of automatic tickets and increasing the cost to purchase more. I would want the prizes awarded for normal tournaments to be decent, but not enough to encourage constant grinding by the best players. Instead, there should be some tournaments that require more tickets and have better prize support that will be more appealing to the hardcore players among us.

My reasons for this are as follows. First, I would like to encourage more players to join the site and participate in something like a tournament. If they have free tickets, they might as well use it. If there are not a ton of grinders, then they actually have a decent chance in walking away with some prizes. Second, some of us simply do not have the time to enter into multiple tournaments a week. While it is good to encourage us to play a little more, it would not be good to make us feel like we are constantly losing out by wasting our precious ticket resources.

However, these are just my thoughts. I will continue to enjoy the site regardless of how this issue is decided.

Also if the cost of entering a sealed league was just a little bit higher than your starting tickets, it would (slightly) discourage people from making a new account when they don't like their booster cards.  It would at least require a bit of forward planning (if you had to make more accounts a week before the league starts).  The number of Aragorn's Bows that I saw in the FotR league was just silly and did ruin the fun quite a lot.

promo cards or maby fixed cards like enquea, balrog, ranger's sword could be added to the daily prizes to encourage newcomers

I believe that in Enquea's case, every player should receive at least one ...
