Bid 2 and hope to go first.  Use the inn to pull aragorn heir to the white ciy and move to site 2.  Depending on how gutsy you are, you can stop at site 2 and let your opponent take the lead.  Once your site three is out, you can use the move bonus to move to site 5.  After learning the folly of my ways, I have altered the deck slightly.  More reliance on other companions proved better than leaning on one companion.

The shadow is a weather condition uruk deck.  Play the weather conditions to slow down the other fellowship, and use the uruks to beat them senseless.  Have you ever been on the wrong side lurtz and his longsword?  :hey:

You have no condition removal except Athelas so you are extremely weak vs Moria and Sauron. Might of numenor is a good idea btw.

I think 4 companions is not enough. You are basically screwed if one of them dies... Maybe you could add 1 Gandalf, FOTS to suicide or take some wounds. 4x Banner of the white tree is way too much.

You have an excellent point about the companions, but if I put in more companions, it wouldn't be a three hunters deck.

I really like banner of the white tree.  I've never had a problem with it.  In fact, combined with might of numenor you can negate the exertion and boost aragorn's strength by 3 until the regroup phase.

I was thinking about switching out ranger of the north for heir to the white city.  I tested the deck last night, and the extra choke would have been real nice.

I realize the lack of condition removal is dangerous.  The only thing I can think of to do would be to cut down on gondor events and switch them out for condition removal.

Anyways, thanks for the posts.

If you use banner of the white tree I recommend using heir to the white city.

I think Legolas, Greenleaf is way better than Prince of Mirkwood... except if you play often vs Nazguls.

Yeah, I agree about aragorn.  The reason I chose prince of mirkwood, is that once his knives are on him, he gains a strength bonus against the three major minion groups; Nazgul, Orcs, and Uruks.  Aragorn's Bow will provide the directed archery I need.  As you can see, there are no elf or dwarf skirmish events.  I needed all the strength bonuses I could get.  My theory was to pit the weaker minions against legolas and gimli, then use the text of their weapons to wound the stronger minions aragorn couldn't finish off.  It seems to work okay, but I've only played it once or twice.

I have learned that by moving first, there is no reason to try and boost the move limit.  The pains I went through to pull off a triple move cost me aragorn and Legolas.  On the flip side however, I managed to reach site 9 with only gimli and frodo.  I lost becuse Frodo was corrupted.  My opponent played an uruk corruption deck, had I bid less to begin, say 2, I would have survived.  Aside from that, my fellowship performed very well.

Well, I should realy try to fix the condition removal. Like he said, Moria Swarm is so going to kill you. And that is one of the most popular shadows in Fellowship along with brutal uruks. Try to install some software, SDA or the other you can find in the Green Dragon Inn. That way you're able to play vs some other players. Believe me, it will improve your skills enormously...

You can lose Uruk Armory from your Shadow, and probably Lurtz and his sword, they just cost too much. Lose Rampage as well, and play a full set of Savagery to Match Their Numbers. Switch Sarumans for Keeper of Isengard, and up the count of Uruk Lieutenants, he's better in larger groups. If you don't pack Worry, lose Tower of Orthanc as well, a singleton won't make much difference, specially in a non-dedicated strategy. That being said, DO play Worry, it's awesome and lets you play Evil Afoot for recycling, something Uruks lack.
As for the Fellowship, a couple Elf-Songs won't make that much of a difference, unless you take a HUGE amount of burdens. You need more copies of weapons instead of strength pumps, and also more copies of Armor. I'd switch a single Elf-song for Sam, Son of Hamfast. Works wonders with your burdens, and you can toss him to a strong minion afterwards. I'd also pack more stealth events, and Endurance of Dwarves for Gimli. For starters.

Go to the Green Dragon and try GCCG, most people agree that it's much better than SDA.

before I invest more energy here, are there any fees I should know about?  My wife and I are expecting so the purse strings are a little tight right now?

Oh, what condition removal cards are available for gondor, elf, dwarf, or shire in the fellowship block?  I looked, and athelas was the only one I could find.

It's free... so that means you won't have to buy real cards anymore.

For Elf: Secret Sentinels, The Seen and the Unseen
For Dwarf: Make Light of Burdens, Song of Durin
For Shire: Bilbo Baggins, Well Spoken Gentlehobbit

If you want to try Decklist Builder, it's the BEST deck building program out there, and you can search specifically for things like "cards that discard Shadow conditions" with a checkbox.
