Title: Official Rulebooks
Post by: Kralik on June 17, 2008, 09:41:55 AM
Here you can find the official LotR TCG rules in PDF format.

If anyone has a starter rulebook from King Block, or other old rules documents, they may be helpful to keep for those who like to play Movie Block. Let me know.

Well, you can't really get to their LotR area from the main page...

And they certainly don't maintain it anymore. If something happened to their site, I highly doubt they'd make any effort to get the LOTR section (and others) back up at all.

Here's the ruling regarding the Ring being worn during the regroup phase, from the September 3, 2002 CRD. I think it still applies despite being removed from later documents. Just in case it comes up again:

Quote
The One Ring – How does he take the Ring off?
If your Ring-bearer puts on the Ring during the regroup phase, he then takes it off at the end of that regroup phase.

Decipher's archives are no longer available. I don't have it, but if anyone happens to find any missing rulebooks or documents, please don't hesitate to post them here. :)

Hello, I'm new and honestly, I am not a LOTR TCG player. I'd love to try the game sometime, but I am an oldschool SWCCG player. That being said, I am the author of the SWCCG, Young Jedi CCG, and Jedi Knights TCG Complete Cardlists on BGG and was wondering if Decipher or anyone else has released a comprehensive printable card list of all the playable LOTR TCG cards (including promos, foils, etc.)? If not, I'd love to do it. I just don't want to do it if someone has already made something. My SWCCG list is available here (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/filepage/33565) if you want to get a sample of what I would make for LOTR.  If you would like me to do it, PM or reply here. I'm open to suggestions if specific colors should be chosen for boxes or anything. I'm going to work on reading through the basic rules of the game and maybe even buy a starter deck or two to understand the game better. Either way, I'd really like to help since it seems Decipher is already abandoning LOTR even before they are done with their online version. The links to rules and cardlists are all pretty much dead on the main site. Thanks and I'll try to keep up on checking this post until I get a response!

I have a master spreadsheet with all of the card text and information. People are still finding typos and proofing it, but it is 99%+ complete. You can find it in the Useful Resources post in the Golden Hall.

Where is this "Useful Resources" post you so speak of? The link you gave me was to the Golden Hall card, not a post. It sounds like this list would be very helpful, but it also doesn't sound like it is a cardlist (without spoilers). Does this mean that there is no concise, printable cardlist available, then?

That link was an auto card link generated by the forum code. Go to the TLHH Forum Index and choose the "!Golden Hall" forum.

I'm thinking of learning Two Towers (I only know FOTR now....), but I can't find the rules anywhere.  I know that there are definitely some alterations to the gameplay, so I guess my question is: Can anybody link me to the rulebook? Or maybe fill me in here if it is simple enough?  Thanks,
Art

Towers is fun ... definately different to FOTR.

The biggest new rule is site control and site liberation. Also there is culture tokens.

Other than that I think it is pretty much the same ... perhaps a few new keywords here or there.

Site control .... When a card says you may control a site you place the site with the lowest site number on the adventure path in your support area (provided there are no fellowships at that site). Once you control a site cards trigger off it (sometimes you need more than one site).

Site liberation ..... When a card liberates a site, place opponents controlled site back on the adventure path.

Culture tokens ... Conditions that play in your support area may be played with tokens on them, or tokens are reinforced when certain conditions are met. Culture tokens can be removed to perform desired actions. It is essentially a new currency for the game and the cards pretty much explain themselves.

The comprehensive rules has more details on site control, liberation and culture tokens.

Hope this helps.

I don't plan on moving or deleting them - they're in an online dropbox. If I come across any other files I think might be useful I will post and link those as well.

In reorganizing my LotR-TCG folder I found a few files from back in the day that may be useful:

And old Spoiler lists (perhaps obsolete with Kralik's spreadsheet (http://lotrtcgdb.com/files/CardData.xls), but these were the official docs):

As Hawkeye above, these are just in a dropbox folder; I do not foresee ever removing them, but you never know.

Do any of these CRD's have the banned list for Block tournaments such as Fellowship Block, Tower Bock, King Block, and the block that includes towers through bloodlines?

I found the banned list for Movie Block.

I dont remember if the Palantir was the only banned card in Fellowship block (as I remember the banned cards needing all the tower block cards for the brokenness).

thanks for any input/help

There are 6 cards restricted in block, but no bans. These are:

Forces of Mordor (FOTR)
Memories of Darkness (King)
Steadfast champion (King)
Mordor Fiend (King)
Strange-Looking Men (WOTR)
Orkish Smith (WOTR)

The X-list didn't exist until TTT was already out, so there is no X-list for FOTR block.

All the documents that he gave us were uploaded to the rulebooks wiki page (http://lotrtcgwiki.com/wiki/rulebooks), although now I'm seeing that half of those links are broken due to Dropbox changing its public hosting guidelines.  I'll rehost them all to google drive and update the page, then ping you when I'm done.

I have finally fixed all the links in the rulebooks wiki page (http://lotrtcgwiki.com/wiki/rulebooks).  Somehow, someway, there appear to have been about five or so of the CRDs that had a dropbox link, but are nowhere to be found in my dropbox or in my archives.  I'm wondering if I was just careless when I made those links, or if I somehow deleted them, or what on earth it means.  Regardless, I've marked those as missing, but all the rest now have updated google drive links.

They exist, but we don't (currently) have copies.

No I mean, I had links in that page that linked to my public dropbox folder.  I'm not talking about files we suspected existed but weren't sure about; there was a link that I had put in to files that, looking in my dropbox, do not exist.  I can't imagine doing that on purpose, but I also can't imagine why I can't find links to them now.  In at least one case (CRD for 4 May 2004), there is a CRD for 5 April, so I imagine it's a matter of there being a 04/05 05/04 mixup, but I have no explanation for the others.

I have a physical copy of the Rise of Saruman starter rulebook. Not sure if that's what is needed but it seems worth mentioning as the Follower and Aid definitions on the wiki are from Hunters and are thus out of date.

2 of the missing CRDs are still available on the Wayback machine -

May 4, 2004:
https://web.archive.org/web/20040610205043/http://www.decipher.com:80/lordoftherings/rules/LOTR-CRD-EN.pdf

August 3, 2004:
https://web.archive.org/web/20040807081611/http://www.decipher.com:80/lordoftherings/rules/LOTR-CRD-EN.pdf

I've also downloaded a copy of each, should anything happen to those links. The May CRD doesn't really have anything of note, but the August CRD has a ruling on "when you play" effects (killing Corsair Marauder with Shadowplay/Unheeded) that was overturned in September.

Hi i just noticed that the Rise of Saruman rules book is missing.
I don't have the official PDF but i do own the original in mint condition.
I don't have easy access to a scanner at the moment(very harsh lockdowns in my area), but i could get scans and spruce them up in photoshop at some point if it can be helpful.
