Title: Westfarthing Businessman with Vitality Uruk-Hai
Post by: NappyKorn on June 28, 2008, 03:59:45 PM
OK, first off I flirted with a Westfarthing Businessman deck once and it looked good but I was missing something and not sure what it was. Here is my new idea for it with a way to help the shadow out some. I paired it with a pretty lethal Uruk-hai deck using Final Triumph. Let me know what you think of both and if you have any ideas on what can improve either

Frodo And Ring
*The One Ring, Such a Weight to Carry(7R2)
*Frodo, Protected by Many(11S164)

Sites
(0) Anduin River(15U187)
(0) Gates of Mordor(15S191)
(1) Morannon Plains(18U137)
(1) Steward's Tomb(18U139)
(1)Rohan Uplands(11S257)
(2)Helm's Gate(11S245)
(2)Osgiliath Reclaimed(11S252)
(3) Mount Doom(15R193)
(3)Heights of Isengard(11U244)

Fellowship (35)
1x *Gandalf's Staff, Ash Staff(11R34)
1x *Phial of Galadriel, The Light of Earendil(13155)
3x *Gandalf, Returned(17R17)
1x *Sam, Great Elf Warrior(10P122)
4x Westfarthing Businessman(13C157)
2x *A Light in his Mind(10U108)
2x *Brooding On Tomorrow(10U15)
2x *Faith in Friendship(13C147)
2x Closer and Closer He Bent(8C109)
2x Not the First Halfling(8U18)
2x Scouring of the Shire(18R112)
4x Sudden Fury(12U132)
2x *Alatar, Final Envoy(13U28)
1x *Robin Smallburrow, Shirriff #$&*@!-Robin(18U111)
1x *Golden Perch Ale(18U108)
1x *Tom Bombadil's Hat(0P60)
1x Glamdring, Elven Blade(7R39)
3x Hobbit Sword(7C319)

Shadow (35)
2x *Fortitude(11U185)
3x Deathly Roar(17C113)
4x Final Triumph(18R115)
4x *Ugluk, Ugly Fellow(15R172)
3x *White Hand Marshall(18R127)
3x Uruk Village Assassin(15C176)
2x Uruk-hai Troop(12R157)
4x White Hand Scout(17C130)
4x White Hand Veteran(17R135)
4x Isengard Siege Bow(11U191)
2x Spear of the White Hand(17U117)

Strategy:

Freeps:
Get those token condition out ASAP to get the businessmen at fighting strength. Sam will pump for each hobbit you can spot. I threw in a Closer and Closer he bent to help get the shadow ready to win a bit quicker. With all the muster then Closer and Closer he Bent will trigger the initiative condition quite well (at least I hope so).

Shadow:
The point is quite obvious, get your huge vitality uruk to the field and play Final Triumph for the overwhelm. Ugluk can exert a comp he is assigned to, Troop is just big in this deck with his 4 vitality. Assassin and Marshall control sites so when you play a scout you can get those needed Final Triumphs back in hand . Fortitude can be used to prevent wounds to your uruk-hai or can help the Uruk Village Assassin do his part. Siege Bow and Spear of the White Hand provide a vitality boost as well. Deathly Roar will help lower the vitality of other companions if they choose to play possessions or artifacts.

Let me know what you think and ideas are welcome and greatly appreciated .

If you start with Sam, Great Elf Warrior and Westfarthing Businessman you are too vulnerable while only a few cards are in play. I suggest to remove Anduin River and to start with Green Dragon Inn.

Also if you use Gandalf, Returned you may want to pack Glamdring instead of Ash Staff.

EDIT: Shirrif #$&*@!-Robin is X'd!

Not sure where you got that info unless there is a more current CDR than the one I have being the one from decipher released in August '07. I just had a look at the x-list from in both standard and expanded and #$&*@!-Robin isn't on it. Unless a more recent CDR is released then he wasn't X'd. If you have a more recent CDR that says he is X'd please post a link .
