Second Edition Complete Premiere Card List
« on: November 23, 2016, 04:27:24 PM »
Here you go, everyone. Playtest and break it. :)

The One Ring

Dwarven
Elven
Gandalf
Gondor
Isengard
Moria
Ringwraith
Sauron
Shire

Sites

I'll get them posted on the website soon, but for right now I have some other stuff going on and don't quite have the time to get to it. I'll also need to work on a rulebook for newcomers (hopefully) to the game.

You'll notice some of the cards don't have flavor text. If you'd like to make suggestions, feel free. I don't really have the time to go scouring the books for pertinent quotes. Some cards have too much game text, and don't have room for any flavor text. So if you are going to make suggestions, please stick to the cards that have room for them.

Otherwise, have a ball! If you see any glaring typos or other mistakes, just let me know and I'll get them corrected.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Bow of the North- not sure if this card is meant to work this way, but essentially a minion skirmishing Frodo could take these wounds, or doubly so if both a Boromir and Aaragorn held these possessions at their own site.

Due to the wording, did you mean for the bows to only work in skirmishes they are a part of? (Otherwise this non-unique bow outshines Boromir's sword)

Also, Goblin culture may be a tad strong idk- for the cost of losing their ability to play scimitars from the discard pile, it looks like they've gained a lot of twilight adding abilities, condition resurrection, and places to play goblins from- all of this in a format that doesn't give much archery to anyone who'se not an elf.

Just an opinion.

You're right. This card is only meant to work against a minion bearer is skirmishing. I have updated the text accordingly.

First one is *Seven for the Dwarf-Lords

I have a few wording issues.
The response ability is worded a bit weird. Because when a dwarf is about to lose a skirmish, its too late for skirmish events. i would reword it to: Skirmish: If a dwarf has less total strength than the minion(S) skirmishing him, discard 2 cards to......

The second one is the regroup ability: creating skirmishes in the regroup is a weird action. i would think more along the lines of:
Response: after the fierce skirmish phase, discards 3 cards from here to spot a dwarf. Assign a minion to this dwarf and they participate in an additional skirmish phase.

That's a lot of text to fit on a card. I think I'll just simplify the skirmish ability to make room for the response, like this...

You still have to assign them together.

Hrm. Might not have enough room on the card for all that text. I'll have to see if I can get creative.

On Shadowy Pursuit, would you like it to say "may play" or do you want it to force the shadow player to play a Nazgul if possible?

Also, Shire! Baggins! Seems to be overly strong- the text is very close to saying "When a nazgul is assigned to a hobbit, exert that nazgul to kill that hobbit"

Question- will your second edition project ever involve alternate ring bearers? I could see "Crossing the Threshold" becoming used universally if that's the case (which may be fine)

Shadowy Pursuit is an event, so the "may play" trigger you're talking about resides within the Shadow player's choice to play the event. Consider Morgul Gates as an example. The text says, "Play a Nazgul; his twilight cost is -2." That event doesn't use the "may play" phrasing, but the Shadow player isn't obligated to play the event just because it's in his or her hand.

As of now, the only potential Ring-bearers I intend for 2E will be Frodo and Sam. Perhaps Bilbo, but even that's kind of stretching the legendarium if you consider that this setting during the War of the Ring.
