Trying to get some really rare cards
« on: March 06, 2017, 12:05:37 PM »
Hello everyone,

I am trying the last couple of months to complete my Lotr Tcg Collection.

I am doing pretty good in Promo Cards and some movie blocks but i have some questions.

1) Where do D cards come from? I can only found them in the Cardlist but no one seems to sell them.
2) What about Tournament Foils ? Was that a release that didn't circulate a lot?

I am sure that as i keep searching this wonderful forum, i ll have more things to ask about.

Happy to be a member here

Hey, many of those D cards were never physically printed. I don't know about the Tournament foils, though.

Unfortunately some of the promos are incredibly difficult to find.  Most of the 0D cards are tough to get for a reasonable price.  There are Ebay listings for almost all of them at the moment, but you'll pay a pretty penny.  I was fortunate to get 0D13 and 0D14 back in 2011, and I just now got 0D9-0D12.  Note that 0D15-0D24 do not exist IRL.

Sadly it's a waiting game, once in a blue moon a gem will appear on Ebay.  Sometimes I miss it, sometimes I don't, and frequently I don't want to pay what is needed.

I had to stop collecting promos after Black Rider (the set, not the promo, of which I merrily have many) due to the runaway in rarity of the promos and the number of them. How did you keep up, or are you just piecing it all together?

But I still have the Durin's Bane promo I pulled out of Scrye in advance of Mines of Moria (and Saruman just a few months later!).

I'm definitely just piecing it all together - I was never very good at getting the promo's as they were released.  The sad thing is as far as I've come I'm 99% sure I'll never complete it.  Cards like Gimli, Dwarven Delegate and Eomer, Forthwith Banished may never come up again, aside from the silly $750 listings on ebay.
