Anarion, Lord of Anorien
« on: August 28, 2017, 06:40:41 PM »
I have been searching and reading articles on Anarion, Lord of Anorien but still a bit unsure on rather his vitality (however many he has at that time) doubles or triples etc. against a minion the more skirmish events you play on him during that skirmish. Base vitality 3 turns into a minus 6 for the minion or 3 skirmish events turn into -9 on the minion etc. I think by the one article I read it does, but just wanted to be sure.

As long as you can pay the cost (Play a [Gondor] skirmish event), you can use the effects. Since Anarion doesn't have a limit as Trust Me As You Once Did famously does, you may continue to lower a minion's strength (and often buff your own as a result of the skirmish event) until you run out of events.

Cool and thank you so much. Some have said in articles they were able to get 7 vitality on him. I still wonder about that. I can see how they got 6 but not 7 anyway 6 is cool too.

Play on him these [Gondor] cards for +3 vitality: the Saga of Elendil, Narsil Blade of the Faithful & Ranger's Cloak. You can also add Ent Draught to that mix, but then you'll need an Ent; Treebeard Oldest Living Thing is a good option, as he has no spotting cost, doesn't bloat your companion count and sometimes can heal Anarion.

He works wonders with defender bonuses, so you may add I Will Go and Armor of the Citadel. And with the Shards of Narsil, to store extra events.

But beware of Wormtongue, and direct exhausting tricks like Volley Fire, Last Gasp, Orc Overseer and Stampeding Ransacker. Other worrisome threats are Black Breath, Desert Lord and Weary.

Thank you Durin's Heir sort of maybe forgot about the Ent Draught, sure wish you did not need an Ent to place one of those, but such is the game. The other 3 cards mentioned I was aware of. :-)

I forgot it then, but you can use those curious Set 17 versions of Merry and Pippin, In the Bloom of Health, which "add 1 to the number of Ents you can spot." Starting Anarion with an Ent is impossible, so starting him with one of those Hobbits avoids you having to wait until you draw an Ent / AWINL to unleash the Draught from its playing cost.

Well unfortunately I do not have either one of those hobbits Merry or Pippin in the bloom of health. And they are a bit expensive to get now days.  But in any case you are saying to start with Merry or Pippin or both and make use of their game text to play an Ent Draught as if a real Ent was already there?

You are correct. While Merry, In the Bloom of Health or Pippin, In the Bloom of Health is in play, you can spot an Ent.

Very very nice. Now it is a matter of trying to get a copy of them at the best price I can find them. All the other Merry and Pippins  you can get for a Dollar and a cup of coffee lol   but the bloom of health duo are somewhat pricey.
