Christmas Present
« on: November 23, 2018, 07:22:39 PM »
Hey guys,

I am looking at buying some sort of box set, booster set for my brother for Christmas.  He used to collect LOTR back in the day.  I think he mainly had only cards from the the Fellowship set.  Any advice on what to give him?  What is a good quality set?  I know my decipher Star wars, but LOTR I don't have a clue.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I recommend getting one of the anthologies.  Similar concept to the SWCCG anthologies (a couple packs from each of that year's sets, a checklist, a branded storage box, and promo versions of rares), but instead of white boarders, the promos are in Elvish.

I haven't shopped around lately, but ~2011 I was able to find each anthology for $20-30.

If he only had cards from Fellowship, I suggest getting him new cards from Fellowship or related expansions, like the Mines of Moria...

Reflections would be a great box which would give a strong card pool for creating a deck or two. If not, I would echo the suggestion to get a Reflections set (or two). You could definitely have a pair of solid decks with an Anthology box each.
