The White Council Set - Rohan
« on: July 06, 2019, 07:25:49 AM »
Today's culture is Rohan, which in this set builds primarily on one concept: revenge. As the dead pile fills with unique Rohan companions, those who remain get stronger. Tell me what you think!

Other cultures:

Wraith
Uruks
Men

[3]Eomer, King of the Riddermark [Rohan]
Companion • Man
Strength: 7
Vitality: 3
Resistance: 7
For each unique [Rohan] companion in the dead pile, Eomer is strength +1.
Each time a unique [Rohan] companion is killed, Eomer is damage +1 until the regroup phase.

[2]Eowyn, Uncaged [Rohan]
Companion • Man
Strength: 6
Vitality: 3

Each time a unique [Rohan] companion is killed, you may exert Eowyn X times to make a Shadow player discard one of his or her cards from play with a twilight cost of X.

[3]Theoden, Horsemaster [Rohan]
Companion • Man
Strength: 7
Vitality: 3
Resistance: 6
Valiant.
Each time the fellowship moves during the regroup phase, you may draw a card for each mounted companion. Then discard a card at random from hand for every companion that is not mounted.

[2]Grimbold, Of Grimslade [Rohan]
Companion • Man
Strength: 6
Vitality: 3
Resistance: 6
Valiant.
While this companion is in the dead pile, the twilight cost of each [Rohan] skirmish event is -1.

[2]Deorwine, King's Rider [Rohan]
Companion • Man
Strength: 6
Vitality: 3

Valiant.
To play, spot a [Rohan] companion. While Deorwine bears a mount and a ranged weapon, he is an archer.

Possession • Hand Weapon
Strength: +3

Possession • Mount
To play, spot a [Rohan] man. Bearer must be a Man, Elf, or Wizard.

Again, really interesting set of cards. I think giving the Free Peoples some benefits to losing a companion makes for more meaningful decisions, even though my personal opinion is that having expendable companions is an undervalued strategy. I assume "beacons" are a Gondor card type? I appreciate that Valiant is getting some attention (another undervalued strategy, though not by as much), and for the mounted "strategy" the cost of explicitly punishing non-mounted companions is well deserved since having a mount is such a benefit in and of itself.

This is turning out to be a really solid set of dream cards. They push the capabilities of the game's mechanics/rules without being confusing and the cards are individually well costed, which in my opinion are exactly what dream cards should do.
