Galadriel tries to be tough.....
« on: November 23, 2008, 09:02:29 AM »
The 'dream' of many players is to eventually play a solo ringbearer. Smeagol is the best example and others are a bit weak. This is another try and yeah it is a bit shaky...Shaky, but a lot of fun. It is vulnerable to a lot, conditiondiscard in the first place, unwoundable minions in the second place and other things in the 3rd place...Well without further ado:

*The One Ring, Such a Weight to Carry (7R2)
*Galadriel, Bearer of Wisdom (RB)(9R+14)

Sites
(0) The Angle (12U185)
(0) Buckland Homestead (11S230)
(0) Woody-end (11S266)
(1) Ettenmoors (11S237)
(2) Mithlond (18U136)
(2) Mere of Dead Faces (11U246)
(3) Dammed Gate-stream (11U235)
(3) North Undeep (11S250)
(3) Old Forest Road (11S251)

Fellowship (30)
1x *Galadriel's Silver Ewer (18R11)
4x *Elladan, Son of Elrond (14R2)
4x *Elrohir, Son of Elrond (14R3)
4x *Elrond, Witness to History (12R17)
1x *Gamling, Defender of the Hornburg (11R147)
1x *Glorfindel, Revealed in Wrath (9R+16)
4x *Legolas , Woodland Emissary (11R22)
1x *Smeagol, Scout and Guide (11R51)
4x Elven Warrior (15C14)
2x Taking the High Ground (12U24)
1x Something Slimy (15U50)
1x *Celebring, Elven-Smith (18R7)
1x *Woodhall Elf (18C17)
1x *Erkenbrand's Horn (18R96)

Shadow (30)
3x Moving This Way (11S213)
2x Beyond all Darkness (8R68)
2x Minas Morgul Answers (12U167)
2x *The Witch-king, Captain of the Nine Riders (11R226)
4x *Ulaire Cantea, Faster Than Winds (7R211)
3x *Ulaire Lemenya, Eternally Threatening (15R185)
4x *Ulaire Nelya, Third of the Nine Riders (11S222)
2x *Ulaire Nertea, Dark Horseman (19P38)
1x *Ulaire Otsea, Duplicitous Spectre (17R141)
3x *Ulaire Otsea, Seventh of the Nine Riders (11R224)
4x *Ulaire Toldea, Eight of th Nine Riders (11S225)

Objective with the starting fellowship is clear. Set up Galadriel the best way possible. Something Slimy to get Taking the High Ground, Gamling gets the followers and Silver Ewer, so she is strong and she now is able to shoot a lot. Maybe, just maybe, some of the companions can help. For example if you're facing a Ferny deck, Legolas can help, if your conditions are discarded, Elrond can help. Well...Shadow is helpful. Not only to cycle, but also it keeps a threat alive later game...doubling with only Nazguls around isn't too appealing for many people...
..."Elves seldom give unguarded advice, for advice is a dangerous gift, even from the wise to the wise, and all courses may run ill"...

I like the deck didn't do very well first game we played because, like you said condition discard can kill it. I kept playing Ferny early and with no sign of Legolas and no Taking the High Ground if got to pump and annihilate poor Galadriel. Second game it was most frustrating, couldn't keep my minions alive and he just doubled every turn. I couldn't even keep up with the Nazgul coming out. I like the deck, in a fun kind of atmosphere .

You can't use Gamling to play Galadriel's Silver Ewer because it says:
'At the start of the fellowship phase, you may add [1] to play a possession on Gamling from your draw deck.'
Silver Ewer plays to the support area.

He uses Gamling to grab a horn then the horn to grab Celebring and celebring can grab the ewer .

Such a Weight to Carry is for the strength bonus, and she will need it. Standard corruption decks... are there any decent ones?? Not really.

You should take The Ring of Doom. Makes Galadriel strength +3 on most occasions and vitality +2. w00t! 'Nuff said.  :uh-huh:

You have to be joking! Strength +3 for a burden!! With no burden removal, thats madness.

Ring of Doom is for pincushion's, to eat up archery and threat wounds.

The Ring of Doom would work great with Splendor of their Banners.  ;D

Well I see to things wrong with that suggestion:

1. Galadriel isn't an archer in this deck
2. The most important one, This deck is standard, and The Splendor of Their Banners is not legal in standard .

So I guess I'm the crusher of the Ring of Doom plot  :o.

Plus not to mention if you want to waste burdens on strength and risk a corruption to a Ring-bearer with no burden peeling why not make it quick and run The Great Ring and do it all in one turn. If you want to lose do it right .

Please stop suggesting ways to accelarate Galadriel's demise!! You must have a vendetta against the Lady of the Golden Wood!

Put Isildur's Bane on her... LOL

Hey, I resent that! As a FotR player, that was the cat's pajamas for quite some time, until that fancy drowning Ring showed up! :P

Do not forget Nenya! So you are sure, there are elven cards on the top of you draw deck (related to my suggested Rumil/Legolas)

Imladris does remove Burdens - at least two, if you use Nelya for sitereplacement. Here you go: Forests and Rivers guaranted, so you use kindreds estranged, because you have lot of characters discarded; get it?
