[2]Glóin, Revered Dwarf [Dwarven]
Companion • Dwarf
Strength: 6
Vitality: 3
Resistance: 6
Elder. Each other elder companion is strength +1.
Response: If a Shadow card is about to discard your [Dwarven] condition, you may add a threat to prevent that.
"‘Am I right in guessing that you are the Glóin, one of the twelve companions of the great Thorin Oakenshield?'"

How's that? Perhaps I should try to expand the idea, giving the elder keyword to characters that it really fits - Gandalf, Galadriel, Elrond, Saruman, etc. Just guys who have been around a long time and are up to speed on things. Then create a whole new batch of cards revolving around the elder keyword. Maybe even a whole functional DC deck implementing the "veterans" of Middle-earth.

Bad idea? Good idea?

Tis interesting, and a good word. The thing is, the word fits Dwarves very well but not Elves or Gandalf so much. I had a thought about representing age on cards: keywords like First Age, Second Age and Third Age. Though in most cases in the game so far this differentiation is not relevant (obviously, the Lord of the Rings is Third Age), it could be something to be developed. :-k

I dunno, maybe I'm just cracking up.

Hmmm... interesting idea. I'll have to think about that.

I dunno, maybe I'm just cracking up.
This we already knew. :P

[3]Mauhúr, Uruk Chieftain [Isengard]
Minion • Uruk-hai
Strength: 9
Vitality: 3
Site Number: 5
Fierce. When you play Mauhúr, you may spot another [Isengard] minion to make that minion strength +3 until the end of the turn.
Regroup: Exert Mauhúr to add [X], where [X] is the number of [Isengard] Orcs you can spot.
"‘…Mauhúr and his lads are in the forest, and they should turn up any time now.'"

Not bad IMO. Text ties in nicely with the lore, and a good anti-move minion.

[4]Gandalf, Prisoner of Saruman [Uruk]
Minion • Wizard
Strength: 6
Vitality: 4
Site Number: 5
To play, spot Saruman and discard a card from hand.
Gandalf cannot be assigned to a skirmish. The move limit is -1. [Gandalf] events cannot be played. [Shire] culture tokens cannot be added or reinforced.

[2]Orcrist, Orc-biter [Dwarven]
Artifact • Hand Weapon
Strength +2
Bearer must be Thorin. He is damage +1.
Each time an Orc is played, you may discard a [Dwarven] tale to make that Orc strength -2 until the regroup phase.
"‘This, Thorin, the runes name Orcrist, the Goblin-cleaver in the ancient tongue of Gondolin; it was a famous blade.'"

Dammit. These Wizards are a challenge.

[4]Saruman, Sharkey [Shire]
Companion • Wizard
Strength: 7
Vitality: 4
Resistance: 6
To play, spot 2 Hobbits. Saruman is resistance -1 for each minion you can spot. The twilight cost of each [Shire] card is -1.
Response: If Saruman's resistance reaches 0, place him in the dead pile and remove [4].
"‘So you have heard the name, have you? All my people used to call me that in Isengard, I believe. A sign of affection, possibly. But evidently you did not expect to see me here.'"

I hope he's balanced, but I'm not sure. He's a big help with getting your cards out for cheap, but rather susceptible to dying due to his text. Although if he does bite the dust, he's goes out with a bang, perhaps drying up the pool enough for that game-winning double to 9.

For that Saruman, the threat of him dying as drawback is taken away by the Response: action... I just wouldnt use it until I needed to!
