Thumbs Up (and other missing smilies)
« on: May 28, 2008, 07:21:15 AM »
I have read numerous complaints around the boards about the lack of certain smilies we all knew and loved at CC, especially the infamous thumbs up. Now believe me, I miss this as much as you all do, but the reason they're not here is that I haven't been able to find them (at least not yet), or at least find similiar ones that work alright here. It's difficult just making one too, since those tend to end up with a white box around it or at least a grainy white border (like some of the culture icons have).

So, I'm calling out for help. If you find a good thumbs up smiley somewhere, or another smiley you really want here, let me know and I'll be very happy to add it. Hopefully you'll have better luck than I have.
Best regards,
Dáin

How about the thumbs up that is selectable as a post icon?

...

I am so stupid. I never even noticed that until now.

Okay, has been added. I tried to flip it and make a thumbs down as well, but since the only graphics program I have here is Paint (uuuugh), it's putting one of those white boxes around it. If someone wants to take the  and make a thumbs down, that would be swell.

Now to find a GP icon and some others...like a chin rubbing one! I miss that.

Dáin

And the head-slapping d'oh, and the one that looks nervous in all directions.

Again, if you find them somewhere, let me know, but the time I've been able to devote to scouring the World Wide Interweb hasn't uncovered them yet.

How do I keep missing these things?! Grah!

Alright, now we have thumbs up AND thumbs down. I'll look for the others people have mentioned when I have the time...though Maiden, we DO have a blushing one right now: :-[

Ninja Smiley!

...might need re-sized, though, if anyone knows how to do that.
Forget it. I'm not arguing with the computer anymore to try to get the sig I want....

Added!

What I'd really like is to go back to smilies similiar to the ninja, actually...slightly larger ones with eyes, replacing most of the current "regular" ones with their bigger cousins. That's a project for another day, though....

Dáin

I went ahead and remade the twilight icons from scratch, seeing that we might not get the CC versions back soon:

sharp style
strong style

Included a blank in case anyone wants to give the text a try; Photoshop isn't too great with small font sizes. I also have a 11px version (this is 12 px) in case there's trouble with centering.

If these aren't adequate I can muddle around some more (must've gone through 20+ variations by now... this has the background duplicated 5 times, with a black overlay at 20% opacity). I think the text is clearer than the ones we currently have, though.

?

I have this one among the special characters on my computer. I also have 1 to 9 but for some reason they don't want to paste into firefox. Thought I'd post it in case it might be useful.
