Hobbit Deck (Freeps)
«
on:

I'm trying to build a hobbit deck so any advice would be welcome. I don't have most of these cards. I'm trying to figure out what I want before I make the deck.
Frodo, Reluctant Adventurer
The One Ring the Ruling Ring
1x
Sam, Great Elf Warrior
(Start)
1x
Merry, Friend to Sam
(Start)
1x
Pippin, Sworn to Service
(Start)
1x
Bilbo, Aged Ring-Bearer
1x
Rosie Cotton, Barmaid
1x
Master Proudfoot, Distant Relative of Bilbo
4x
Sudden Fury
2x
Consorting with Wizards
4x
Fates Entwined
2x
Little Golden Flower
3x
Escape
4x
Everyone Knows
4x
A Promise
1x
O Elbereth! Gilthoniel!
2x
The Tale of the Great Ring
4x
Hobbit Sword
1x
Sting, Weapon of Heritage
2x
Frodo Gamgee
Sites
1F:
Hobbiton Party Field
2F:
Trollshaw Forest
3F:
Frodo's Bedroom
4F:
Mithril Mine
5F:
The Bridge of Khazad-dum
6F:
Dimrill Dale
7F:
Anduin Wilderland
8F:
Brown Lands
9F:
Summit of Amon Hen
The main strategy is to use Sam as a tank, while using weaker minions to be assigned to Bilbo to add tokens to
Sudden Fury
. If a companion is about to be killed Merry is exerted to add his strength. Then heal him back using
fates entwined
.

How about Frodo Bilbo's Old Heir since he can heal your allies. Oh and I like your deck.

Your site 5 is a shadows site and the rest are fellowship sites.
Edit: Your site 2 is also a shadows site.

Actually there are two versions of the same site. A shadow and a Fellowship so I'd be using the fellowship sites.

K... Dropping Farmer Maggot to get a
Rosie Cotton, Barmaid
. Cutting all three allies for 4x
A Promise
. Add 2
Frodo Gamgee
. Also unless someone can tell me some other good Hobbit events I'm gonna have to go ahead and drop the
Chance Observation
. Maybe put in an
O Elbereth! Gilthoniel!
and a couple Scourging of the Shire, and 2
Little Golden Flower
and adding 1 more
Everyone Knows
. Also considering changing Bilbo for
Bilbo, Aged Ring-Bearer
.

Lol at MD
Technically speaking, this deck does not fit the Expanded format, and would have to be moved to Casual, unless you alter the site path

Why isn't it Expanded legal? Is this another thing that I missed?

Indeed. Expanded format uses Sites from 11, 12, 13, 15, 17 and 18.

Oh that sucks... ummm k then I guess I'll have to move this thread. I can't really change the site path as Bilbo is essential and he needs to be out ASAP....

Ok I just took this deck up on GCCG and almost got slaughtered. My opponent was using a wounding shadow and I just couldn't get my essential cards out before he got all his minions. Help?

does
shadowplay
/
unheeded
combo work? It says if a minion exerts and it doesn't. Your exerting it.

It doesn't say "If a Free Peoples or Shadow player exerts a minion" because that would be superfluous wording.
A minion is exerting, therefore
Unheeded
works.

Ok, so my cousins do something similar.
Start with Sam and Bilbo, and get a few more hobbits in there to power sam up. This way, you don't need to draw both bilbo and
consorting with Wizards
. Also, get
the Great Ring
, since that works really well with Bilbo
Also, if you get a few more
Tales in there, than you may want to switch to
Pippin, Steadfast Friend
.
Lastly,
Sting, Weapon of Heritage
, one of the Mithrial Coats, and Salt of the Shire will help.
